Owls 2025 Schedule & Betting Odds
2025 Temple Owls Football
The Temple Owls football team enters this season looking to improve upon a 3–9 record—their fourth straight season finishing with just three wins. Temple fired head coach Stan Drayton late in the 2024 season and hired K.C. Keeler, who served as the head coach at Sam Houston State from 2014 to 2024.
It'll be interesting to see how this Temple team transforms under the new coaching staff. Defensive coordinator Brian L. Smith joins the team after spending six seasons at Rice. The new offensive coordinator, Tyler Walker, arrives after a successful tenure at Montana State. Temple will likely take on a run-first approach, with quarterback Evan Simon leading the way.
The Owls have been stuck at three wins in each of the past four seasons, and bookmakers aren’t expecting much different this year, with their win total set at a mere 3.5 games. Last season, they faced a brutal out-of-conference schedule, but this year’s slate should be slightly more manageable. That said, they still have a tough task ahead with a Week 3 matchup against Oklahoma. Temple enters the season with the lowest odds to win the American Athletic Conference, listed at +20000.
Temple Owls Point Spreads
"Covering the spread" is a reference to a point spread bet, which is a bet based on the margin of victory.
Let’s take a look at what an Owls spread might look like and break it down:
- Temple +9.5 (-110)
- Navy -9.5 ( -110)
The Owls won this matchup 32-18, last season, which means they not only covered this spread, but also won the game outright. If they were to lose the spread, the Midshipmen would have had to have won the game by ten points or more.
Temple Owls Over/Unders
Betting on the Owls’ overs were breakeven a year ago as they finished 6-6 on over/unders.
Over/under bets, also known as totals, are wagers that are determined by the combined points scored by both teams in a given game.
Oddsmakers set the total at how many points they think will be scored, so let’s say it was 46.5 for the example set above. If you took the over, a 32-18 final would mean you have a winning wager because the total amount of points scored was 50. If the total points scored combined at 46 or fewer, the under would have been the winning wager.
Temple Owls Moneylines
While point spread and total bets deal with point differentials and combined points, moneyline wagers are much easier to follow. When you place a moneyline bet, you are simply betting on who you think will win the game.
Temple defeating Rice as a -300 favorite is fine, but a $30 bet pays out just $10. If you’re able to catch the Owls as a +300 underdog, though, a $10 bet on them profits $30. These bets are easiest to understand when you break them down as $10 or $100 wagers.
Temple Owls Futures
Despite several big-time programs leaving the AAC, Temple still has the longest odds to win the conference. If you think they’re going to overcome all odds and win the AAC, you can put your money down on a futures wager. Futures are wagers that settle at a later time, usually at the end of the season. Examples of futures bets are picking a conference winner, over/unders on team wins, as well as picking a Heisman Trophy winner.
