My Wofford vs Duke NCAAB Betting Preview
Despite coming off a surprising loss as a six-point favorite on a neutral site to Kentucky, Duke is arguably the most talented team in the entire country.
Meanwhile, Wofford is 1-2 after losing to Lipscomb and Presbyterian in back-to-back games. The Terriers have yet to record a Division I win this season.
That would suggest a complete mauling at Cameron Indoor.
And that still may be the case, but I think Wofford covers the spread.
Why? Well, there is a couple of reasons why I like this pick.
First, Wofford returned almost every major contributor from last season's team that finished in the top half of the SoCon and won 17 games overall. The Terriers have their top four scorers back, including double-figure scorers Corey Tripp and Dillon Bailey.
Also, this is a massive lookahead spot for the Blue Devils, as they are facing top-10 teams — Arizona and Kansas — in their next two games. In fact, three of their next four games are against top-10 teams if you factor in their game against Auburn on Dec. 4.
This is the perfect chance for the Blue Devils to jump out to a big lead and rest their best players for what is one of the most important stretches of their regular season schedule. That will eventually open the backdoor for the Terriers.
Finally, Sion James injured his shoulder in the Champions Classic against the Wildcats. He may not play against Wofford and even if he does, I'd imagine Jon Scheyer would be cautious with the veteran transfer.
Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster are struggling to make shots, which makes James' role even more important in the long run.
Wofford isn't even in the same vicinity talent wise as Duke, but the spot favors the Terriers.
Pick: Wofford +26
