DePaul vs LSU College Basketball Betting Preview

LSU has played some of the worst defensive teams in the country, as it's feasted on units that can't rebound and send opponents to the foul line routinely.

DePaul is a legitimate rebounding team that's done well to limit second-chance opportunities and defend without fouling. The Blue Demons are strong on the interior and contest everything at the rim.

The long bodies of CJ Gunn, Kaleb Banks and NJ Benson are going to give LSU fits down low, and I would expect the boys from Baton Rouge find it a tad more difficult to operate in the post than in prior games.

LSU has a top-60 defense in college basketball, per KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency metric, and the Tigers are exquisite when it comes to defending without fouling and contesting paint shots.

The Tigers were able to run with New Orleans, Alcorn State, FIU and the likes, but I get the sense that Matt McMahon might slow his bunch down with this one being the second of back-to-back games. Also, the Tigers have Boston College and Texas Tech looming on deck.

Both of these teams are going to contest everything defensively, and each offense is going to face a more challenging assignment in the post.

I would expect this game to be close throughout, but DePaul's defense will make life difficult for LSU inside. Neither of these teams shoots the 3 at a high percentage and both DePaul and LSU play defense without fouling.

I'm on the under, as we should expect to see tired legs and short jumpers, with minimal second chance opportunities in this one.

LSU will pull away late; lets call it 80-69.

My Pick: Under 154.5
