Nuggets vs Spurs NBA Thursday Preview
I like the Spurs -4.5 against the Nuggets tonight — and this is a bet against Denver more than it is a bet on San Antonio.
The Nuggets just played against the Rockets, and this will be their second night of a back-to-back after a physical game against a Houston team that crashes the offensive glass relentlessly.
The Spurs have a bit of a rest advantage and home court. Also, market ratings would make the spread for this game closer to Spurs -6 or Spurs -6.5.
So, the reason why it's lower right now is because Victor Wembanyama is questionable.
However, anytime Wemby has been listed as questionable recently, he's wound up playing, because he clearly covets the MVP award and wants to reach the minimum 65 games required.
Whenever he plays slightly fewer minutes, we know he's exhausted — but there's no real injury designation tonight; it just says right ankle soreness, so I expect him to play, and I believe this line will get wider once that news becomes official.
So, there may be up to a point value in this spot, simply because they are listing Wembanyama as questionable, who is probably worth around five points on the spread at this moment — and I think he's way closer to probable; I'd say there's probably around an 80% chance that he plays.
Also, with Denver on the second night of a back-to-back and a lot of their guys just recently recovered, does Aaron Gordon play the second leg tonight? Does Jamal Murray suit up when he's dealt with some lingering issues?
Maybe one of those guys sits for the Nuggets, and then this spread would likely jet out to Spurs -7.5 or Spurs -8.

This is a great schedule spot for the Spurs, and we are getting a discounted price.
This is a no-brainer floor spot, unless Wemby ends sitting this one out, but I just don't see that happening.
I trust San Antonio as a very well-orchestrated, structured team. Denver has lacked that kind of structure sometimes, as the Nuggets seemingly rely on pure talent, often missing some of that cohesiveness.
I think Wemby is going to play tonight, and if he does, I think we know how this game will likely turn out.
