Down to their final out, Freddie Freeman lifted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a thrilling victory over the New York Yankees with a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning in the opening matchup of the World Series. In Game 2, Kiké Hernández will look to spark the Dodgers lineup. Meanwhile, Carlos Rodon will look to help the Yankees even the series with a quality outing.
Continue below for my Yankees vs Dodgers Game 2 prop betsand my MLB picks for Game 2 of the Fall Classic on Saturday, October 26.
Yankees vs Dodgers Game 2 Prop Bets
- Carlos Rodon Over 14.5 Outs Recorded (-140, FanDuel)
- Kiké Hernández Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105, DraftKings)
Carlos Rodon Player Props: Yankees' Bullpen in Disarray
In Game 1, Gerrit Cole went six innings and allowed just one run before being pulled for Clay Holmes. Now, I would argue that manager Aaron Boone pulled Cole a tad bit early with just 88 pitches. That led to Nestor Cortes being in an unfamiliar position trying to close against Freeman. Holmes and Cortes were two of five Yankees' relievers used last night with Luke Weaver throwing 1 2/3 innings and 19 pitches.
The Yankees bullpen will be in even more disarray if Carlos Rodon does not pitch five innings tonight. Now, Rodon will have to pitch well for that to happen, but he does have 22 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings this postseason. He pitched to a 2.53 ERA in two starts in the ALCS. He went six innings in one start and 4 2/3 innings in the other.
Dating back to 2022, Rodon went five innings in all three starts against the Dodgers while with the division rival Giants. He has had success when matched up against notable Dodgers hitters such as Mookie Betts, Teoscar Hernandez, Freeman, Max Muncy, and Will Smith. He will likely only need to keep them in check twice to get to the fifth inning and that will get him 15 outs.
Kiké Hernández Player Props: Target This Hitter vs. Pitcher Matchup
One Dodgers' hitter who has enjoyed success against Rodon is Kiké Hernández. The versatile veteran is 3-for-6 with three solo home runs against Rodon. He hit for more power against left-handers this season as well with one home run per every 22.6 ABs against left-handers compared to one home run every 39.3 ABs against right-handers.
Hernandez is hitting .306 this postseason and continued his hot hitting with another hit in Game 1 of the World Series. He came around to score the first run of the game last night. He has now hit this line in five straight games and eight of his last 10 games this postseason.
Hernandez's spot in the order has fluctuated, but he hit sixth last night. That should give him a few RBI opportunities. However, if he bats eighth or ninth tonight, he has a good chance of being knocked in by either Shohei Ohtani or Betts.
