Rays vs Guardians Picks, MLB Same-Game Parlay
Story: Back Rays’ Youngster to Stay Hot at the Plate
While Guardians-ace Tanner Bibee has been a model of consistency over his first few seasons in the Big Leagues, Cleveland’s SP is off to an atrocious start to his 2026 campaign- posting a 4.45 ERA and 1.5 WHIP across six outings thus far.
Bibee had been exceptional for Cleavland over the last two seasons as a mid-rotation arm who was rarely susceptible to getting “rocked”, but things have taken a turn for the worst for the Guardians’ righty with significant command issues in 2026.
The Guardians’ ace had previously been renowned for the effectiveness of his slider in its ability to produce “swings and miss” punch-outs, and also for his impressive control of a four-seam fastball he would use to paint the strike zone with utmost precision.
In 2026, Bibee’s impressive control has ultimately faded- resulting in his frequently getting behind in the count, and thus a high susceptibility to allowing homers with a far more predictable arsenal.
In addition to the five homers he has allowed across 30 frames this season, he has also had extreme difficulty facing left-handed hitters in 2026.
While Bibee’s cutter used to be pretty effective versus lefties, the versatility and overall effectiveness of his off-speed stuff has severely diminished.
In 63 at-bats (AB) versus lefties this season, Tanner has allowed 15 hits, a whopping .492 slugging-percentage (SLG), and all five of his homers to batters on the left side of the plate.
Unfortunately for Cleavland’s ace, the Rays’ primary lineup features 5 left-handed hitters- tied for the most in all of baseball.
In the opposing dugout, Tampa’s Tuesday night SP Nick Martinez is off to a phenomenal start to his 2026 season. The Rays’ righty currently posts a 2.10 ERA which ranks inside the top-10 in the Major Leagues- also ranking in the top-35 in WHIP at 1.10.
Though playing on the road in Tuesday night’s matchup, the Rays boast a sizable pitching-advantage with Martinez compared to Bibee’s poor form, and that said- I will be looking to back Tampa on the first-five inning (F5) ML as the front-leg of our SGP.
For the second leg of our SGP ahead of Tuesday night’s AL-clash, I will be looking to target one of the Rays’ hitters to find success in a player prop market versus a struggling Guardians’ arm in Bibee.
Given the sheer volume of hits he has allowed to left-handed hitters already this season, I expect Tampa Bay to consistently have runners on the basepaths while Bibbee is on the mound due to the overwhelming lefty-hitting prowess amongst its lineup.
More runners on the basepaths in-turn results in both more runs and RBIs, which is precisely why I favor targeting the HRR (Hits + Runs + RBIs) player prop market ahead of Tuesday’s contest.
While you would suspect I target a Rays’ lefty given my preliminary analysis, I will be looking to back the Rays’ most elite hitter- which is undoubtedly Tampa’s 22-year old Dominican superstar in third-baseman (3B) Junior Caminero.
Ironically, Bibee and Caminero have an exciting history between them as the two “exchanged words” in September of last season when the Guardians' righty struck-out Tampa’s youngster following a previous start where Caminero was consistently on the base paths.
In nine career-AB versus the Guardians' righty, Junior has recorded three hits – one of which was a moonshot 2-run homer that led Tampa to a close victory.
Following his first full season in the Big Leagues in 2025 where Junior blasted 45 homers and drove in 110 runs (RBIs), the 22-year old got off to a sluggish start in 2026 but is finally starting to re-find his groove at the plate.
Tampa’s young-slugger has blasted six homers over his last eleven games, and has reached safely in 11 of the Rays’ last 15 contests. I fully expect Junior to maintain his scorching form on Tuesday night, and build upon his prior successes versus Cleveland’s righty.
For the second-leg of our SGP, I feel great backing Junior to exceed his 1.5 HRR mark ahead of Tuesday night’s contest at Progressive Field.
- Rays F5 ML (+110)
- Junior Caminero Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-150)
Parlay Odds: +250
