Let's dive into the MLB odds and make a Phillies vs Orioles prediction in our Saturday MLB betting preview for June 15.
Phillies vs Orioles odds for Saturday have the Orioles as -190 moneyline favorites with an over/under of 8 (-115o / -105u) for this interleague matchup at Camden Yards.
For my Phillies vs Orioles prediction, I will be looking at a different market, though — the run line.
A pair of right-handers are set to square off as Philadelphia hands the ball to Taijuan Walker while Grayson Rodriguez takes the mound for Baltimore.
See how I think Phillies vs Orioles will play out in my MLB betting preview.
It's been an extremely challenging campaign for Walker, who possesses a 5.40 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through 10 starts. His underlying metrics are even worse, as the right-hander ranks in the 14th percentile or lower in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity, barrel rate and hard-hit rate.
The Phillies have lost in four of his past five starts.
While Philadelphia possesses one of the best lineups in baseball, it's likely to struggle against Rodriguez.
Not a single member of this current iteration of the Phillies has ever faced Rodriguez prior to Saturday, so it'll likely take a few rotations through the batting order to even attempt to figure him out.
This lineup has also seen a dip in production recently, averaging around four runs over its past nine games.
That's still a solid average, but not where you want to be when going against Baltimore's lineup.
Entering this matchup, the Orioles rank in the top six of the league in runs scored per game, hits per game, SLG, OPS and home runs.
This success is likely to continue against Walker, a pitcher whom this current Baltimore lineup boasts a .253 xBA, .420 xSLG and .318 xwOBA against through 52 combined career plate appearances.
As long as this lineup gives Rodriguez some solid production, then he should have no issue coasting to a victory. Through 11 starts, the right-hander is 7-2 with a commanding 3.27 ERA and 1.23 WHIP.
He's been particularly dialed in recently, allowing two or fewer runs in five of his past six starts. Rodriguez is 4-1 over that stretch with a 2.31 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.
All four of those wins came by at least a two-run differential.
Following Rodriguez is a trustworthy bullpen that ranks fourth in both ERA and FIP.
Phillies vs. Orioles
Betting Pick & Prediction
There's just a lot to like about Baltimore in this spot. Rodriguez outranks Walker in pretty much every statistic and analytic across the board, and there's a wide gap between the two.
The Orioles' bullpen also outranks the Phillies' in ERA.
Meanwhile, both lineups are among the best in baseball, with both teams tied for first in runs scored per game.
With that said, there's a bit more pop in the Orioles' bats, as they pace Philadelphia in SLG, OPS and home runs.
Add in home field, and they should have no issue winning by at least two runs.
