The Philadelphia Phillies are the defending National League champions, but they're only one game ahead of the rebuilding Washington Nationals in the standings entering play Friday.
Things haven't gone the Phillies' way this season, with Rhys Hoskins suffering a season-ending injury in spring training and Bryce Harper starting the season on the injured list.
The baseball season has plenty of games left in it, though, and the Phillies will try to get their campaign back on track in Washington this weekend.

Zack Wheeler Over 5.5 Strikeouts
Wheeler has gone over this number in three of his last four starts. I'm not quite sure why this number is so low.
Wheeler is one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball and has a 27% strikeout percentage this season.
While the Nationals' lineup doesn't strike out a ton — Washington's projected lineup has a combined 18% strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching this season — there are still five hitters in this lineup with at least a 20% strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching this season.
I think Wheeler gets us at least six strikeouts in the first leg of the same game parlay.
Bryce Harper 2+ Total Bases
Josiah Gray has a 5.32 xFIP, 19% strikeout percentage, 11% walk percentage and 43% ground ball percentage this year.
Against left-handed batters, though, Gray has allowed a 43% fly ball percentage.
Bryce Harper has a .204 ISO against right-handed pitching this year. Harper also has a 28% line drive percentage against right-handed pitching this year.
Line drive hitters against fly ball pitchers is a bad recipe for the pitcher, and Harper has the highest line drive percentage among the left-handed hitters in the Phillies' lineup.
He should take advantage of this matchup in Washington, which is a great ballpark for hitters.
Phillies -1.5
The Phillies have their best starting pitcher on the mound. Wheeler has a 3.71 xFIP on the season and has completed at least six innings in each of his last four starts. He struck out 12 batters in his last start against Atlanta.
The matchup is also good for the Phillies' hitters against Gray, who has a fly ball problem against left-handed hitters.
Philadelphia's lineup contains many left-handed hitters, with Bryson Stott, Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Brandon Marsh and Kody Clemens all projected to be in the lineup tonight.
Washington also has the ninth-worst bullpen ERA in all of baseball this year at 4.45, so it won't get much better for the Nationals once Gray is out of the game.
I like the Phillies to pull away and win conclusively in the last leg of the parlay.
