My Phillies vs Reds Betting Preview
I’m fading Hunter Greene strictly on workload.
It’s the second time this season we’ve been able to bet against Greene in this situation. He’ll be returning from a groin injury once again and is likely on a pitch count. Greene dealt with the issue back in May, but didn’t go on the IL. He had a start skipped, then came back and only tossed 83 pitches across four innings. Two starts later, he would hit the IL after reaggravating the injury.
Greene missed more than two months with the groin issue this time. He got up to 79 pitches in his final rehab outing. I’m expecting around 80 to 85 pitches here.
Cincinnati has to be cautious with its prized ace. The Reds remain on the fringe of the playoff race and can't afford to lose Greene again.
Philadelphia is a challenging matchup. The Phillies boast the ninth-lowest team strikeout rate against righties over the past month while ranking among the top-three lineups in OPS, wOBA, and wRC+ during the span.
