The Chicago White Sox (31-106) and New York Mets (72-64) play their series finale on Sunday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET; the game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago and SNY.

The Mets have taken the first two games against the lowly White Sox and seek the series sweep on Sunday. It's not exactly a must-win-game for New York, but the Mets enter Sunday two games behind the Atlanta Braves (74-62) for the third NL wild-card spot.

Mets-White Sox odds for Sunday have the Mets as -175 moneyline favorites and the White Sox as +145 underdogs. The over/under is set at 7.5 (-110o / -110u). Sean Manaea takes the mound for New York, while Chicago hands the ball to Garrett Crochet in a battle of left-handers.

Mets Betting Preview: Sean Manaea a Force

Manaea continues to dominate this season as he's posted a 10-5 record with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP through 26 starts. His underlying metrics are equally dominant as the southpaw ranks in the top half of the league in xERA, average exit velocity, strikeout rate and barrel rate.

Entering this matchup in particularly good form, Manaea has allowed three or fewer runs in seven consecutive starts. He is 4-1 over that stretch with a commanding 2.98 ERA.

That success is likely to continue against Chicago, a team Manaea is 2-0 against through three career meetings with a 2.81 ERA. Following the left-hander is a strong bullpen that ranks sixth in the league in xFIP.

White Sox Betting Preview: Garrett Crochet to Play Spoiler?

The Mets' pitching staff should have a relatively stress-free day against Chicago's lineup. Chicago ranks in the bottom two of the league in runs scored per game, hits per game, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS and home runs.

The good news for the White Sox is that Crochet is capable of keeping them in this game. The former first-round pick boasts a 3.64 ERA and a 1.07 ERA through 27 starts this season.

Crochet's analytics are somehow even stronger as he sports a 2.82 xERA and ranks in the 83rd percentile or higher in xBA, strikeout rate and walk rate.

Mets vs White Sox Prediction, Betting Analysis: Go Under Total?

There are multiple reasons to be optimistic about the under in this contest. For starters, Chicago possesses the worst lineup in baseball.

More importantly, both of these starting pitchers are capable of taking care of business. Manaea and Crochet both rank in the top half of the league in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity and strikeout rate.

Moneyline

I'm going to pass on the moneyline. I have no interest in laying -176 on New York. I also have no interest in backing Chicago.

Run Line (Spread)

I'm also going to pass on the run line. I like the Mets at -1.5, but would like to see a larger payout than the current -105 tag.

Over/Under

I'm betting Under 8.5 in this game.
