The Houston Astros are fighting for a wild card spot in this year's playoffs, unlike the last few years when they were the best team in the American League West division.

The Texas Rangers have knocked them off of their spot for now, but Houston enters play Sunday with a one game lead in the wild card standings, giving them the inside track on the playoffs for the moment.

The Los Angeles Angels are five games out of the wild card standings, and without Mike Trout, there isn't much hope that they can make a run for the playoffs. Will they be able to take down the Astros on Sunday Night Baseball?

Same-Game Parlay – Houston Astros vs Los Angeles Angels

Cristian Javier 6+ Strikeouts

It can be argued that nobody needed the All-Star break more than Cristian Javier. His last three starts before the break were some of the worst of his career. Javier allowed eight, six and four earned runs in those three starts before the break. He didn't complete even five innings in any of those games, and he didn't look like himself out there at all.

The idea here is that Javier will get back on track tonight against the Angels, and even when he was struggling, he had four strikeouts in his last start.

Jeremy Pena 2+ Total Bases

Tyler Anderson is starting for the Angels tonight, but he's struggled this year. He has a tough time with right-handed hitters specifically as he's allowed a .207 ISO to righties this season. Pena is one of the best right-handed hitters on the Astros, and he's excelled against left-handed pitching this season.

Pena has a .175 ISO against left-handed pitching this season, and all we need from him to cover this leg of the same-game Parlay is a double or two singles.

Astros -1.5

The Angels won a wild back-and-fourth game over the Astros on Saturday night, but I think things get back to normal here. Los Angeles became the first team since 1930 to trail by six or more runs in the seventh inning or later, erase that deficit only to fall behind again by at least three runs and then still win the game.

Tonight, however, I don't think the Angels will make history again as the Astros should win this game convincingly. Houston is without Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve, but with the Angels down Mike Trout, the Astros are still the better overall team on paper, and they have the starting pitching advantage tonight.
