Memorial Day weekend is here, and we have yet another glorious Saturday MLB slate to soak in. There are three men who present value on the mound this afternoon.
Let's see who they are and how we're betting on them in today's top MLB props.
MLB Player Props For Saturday, May 27
Brady Singer Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-150)
Nationals vs. Royals | |
First Pitch | 4:10 pm ET |
Best Line | BetRivers |
The young Washington Nationals have done a tremendous job of putting the ball in play. In fact, they are the best, as they have the lowest team strikeout rate in the majors.
While they are a tough team to strike out, their prowess has brought Brady Singer's strikeout total far too low for this matchup. Singer has gone over this total in seven of his 10 starts this year.
However, his success stems back even further; he has exceeded this total in 75.7 of his last 37 starts. That gives us implied odds of -311 that he will go over again this afternoon.
The juice is worth the squeeze, even in a tough matchup.
Pick: Over 3.5 strikeouts
Corbin Burnes Under 7.5 Strikeouts (-130)
Giants vs. Brewers | |
First Pitch | 4:10 pm ET |
Best Line | DraftKings |
In a season in which Corbin Burnes has the opportunity to maximize his value as he looks for a new contract, he has failed to do so through his first 10 outings of the year. While his counting stats aren't bad by any stretch, they are below his standards, and there is one big concern.
Burnes has lost a tick on the radar gun. His cutter has averaged a full mile per hour less than it did last season. While the drop isn't that significant, it appears to have impacted his ability to finish off hitters when ahead in the count.
His strikeout rate is 9% lower than last season, and as a result, his strikeout total is too high for what he has shown us this season. Burnes has gone under this total in nine of his 10 outings this season.
He may have a good matchup against the Giants, who have the second-highest team strikeout rate, but I'm going to fade him until he proves me wrong.
Pick: Under 7.5 strikeouts
Logan Webb, Over 17.5 Pitching Outs Recorded (-135)
Giants vs. Brewers | |
First Pitch | 4:10 pm ET |
Best Line | bet365 |
We stay in the same game as the other man on the mound in Milwaukee this afternoon also has value. Logan Webb has become the workhorse of the San Francisco Giants rotation.
His increased success this season has come from an uptick in velocity. Unlike his counterpart in this game, Webb has been able to generate quick outs and put away batters when ahead in the count.
His sinker allows him to attack the zone and be very efficient. That efficiency has allowed him to work deep into games for quite some time now. He has gone at least six innings in nine of 10 starts this year, adding to a long-standing trend.
Over his last 42 starts, Webb has gone over this total in 69% of them. So that gives us implied odds of -233.
All that is before you factor in that the Brewers have the highest ground ball rate in the majors. Webb will work late into this game as long as the grounders find mitts.
Pick: Over 17.5 pitching outs
