If you tuned into my first three ‘Total Base of the Day’ segments, White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami, Blue Jays first baseman Vladdy Guerrero Jr, and Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies all cashed their respective total base marks with flying colors.

Read on for my favorite total base props for Wednesday, May 6.

Jackson Chourio

vs. Cardinals, 1:15 PM ET

Milwaukee’s young star returned to play on Tuesday after having missed the first six weeks of the 2026 season recovering from a fractured left middle finger.

While originally reported as a two-to-three week absence by team doctors, Jackson Chourio’s pathway back to full health was halted, causing the Brewers’ slugger to miss six weeks instead.

If there was any prior doubt surrounding the health of the Brewers’ 22-year-old phenom as he returned to action on Sunday afternoon, it was quickly put to bed, as Chourio finished 4-for-4 with two doubles.

Now that Jackson’s injury concerns have dissipated, he has a phenomenal matchup on Wednesday on the front-end of a doubleheader at Busch Stadium following a rain-out postponement on Monday.

The Brewers are set to square off with the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon in the second of a three-game set in Saint Louis.

Cardinals’ right-hander Andrew Pallante will take the mound for the home team after a rather up-and-down start to his 2026 campaign. Despite struggling early, Pallante seems to be finding form on the bump over his last few starts.

That said, I think Wednesday’s matchup versus a tough Milwaukee lineup could be a potential regression spot for the Cardinals’ righty.

Given that Chourio and Pallante play in the same division, the two have met on five previous plate appearances, of which Chourio has had the edge, having recorded three hits and three RBIs.

For a ground-ball pitcher with a 66.2% clip since 2022, Pallante has been vulnerable to contact hitters like the Brewers’ Chourio.

That said, the Cardinals’ contact profile has been susceptible to speedsters with a knack for recording extra-base hits, making Chourio the exact type of player with an advantageous hitter profile.

I expect the Brewers’ superstar to build upon his scorching start to his 2026 campaign, and think he is a fantastic value pick to exceed his 1.5 Total Bases prop on Wednesday.

Pick: Jackson Chourio Over 1.5 Total Bases (-130, FanDuel)

Byron Buxton

vs. Nationals, 6:45 PM ET

Despite a rather sluggish start to Buxton’s 2026 campaign, Byron Buxton is starting to find his rhythm at the plate. He’s smashed five homers over the past eight games.

In addition to his current form, Buxton gets an ideal matchup on Wednesday against Miles Mikolas.

Mikolas has a whopping 8.23 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over his first seven starts. Not a great omen, considering he has posted an ERA over four in six of his past seven full seasons.

While Buxton does not have the best head-to-head history versus Mikolas, having failed to record a single hit in his five career head-to-head plate appearances, he should take advantage of this version of Mikolas.

Mikolas is on pace for a career-low strikeout rate and a career-high hard-hit rate allowed, ultimately equating to an obscene 2.63 HR/9 allowed.

Buxton is one of the best barrel guys in the game, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him blast an extra-base (or home run) on Wednesday.

Pick: Byron Buxton Over 1.5 Total Bases (-175, FanDuel)
