If you tuned into my first two ‘Total Base of the Day’ segments, both White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami and Blue Jays star Vladdy Guerrero Jr cashed my top picks with flying colors.

I will continue to give out my favorite ‘Total Base of the Day’ selection on a daily baseball slate — and then will go on to choose a second player whom I see as more of a value-pick compared to my top-confidence selection.

Here are my two favorite hitters to record two or more total bases on Friday, May 1.

Ozzie Albies

vs. Rockies, 8:40 PM ET

For my first ‘Total Base of the Day’ selection, I will be targeting Braves’ second-baseman (2B) Ozzie Albies on Friday night.

Despite a rather slow start to the first few games on Atlanta’s schedule to start the season, Ozzie has bounced back in tremendous fashion- and is scorching at the plate over the last 2 weeks.

Albies enters this contest on an impressive 11-game hit streak, having blasted three runs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">homers and driven 11 runners home (RBIs) during that span.

Ozzie’s batting average (AVG) has soared over his last two weeks of play as Atlanta’s 29-year-old currently posts a .317 batting average (AVG), a massive improvement from the .273 AVG he had prior to his heater at the plate.

The Braves’ 2B now ranks inside the top-20 in baseball in both Homers and RBIs with seven and 20, respectively.

Atlanta heads on the road to Coors Field to face the Rockies after several homestands that have resulted in the Braves winning 12 of their last 15 contests.

For a Braves team with the hottest lineup in baseball right now, they have a prime opportunity to build on their offensive success, given the thin air and high altitude at Coors Field, which makes it the most hitter-friendly park in MLB.

37-year old veteran left-hander Jose Quintana is set to take the mound for the Rockies in the first of a three-game homestand at Coors.

Despite several tremendous seasons over the past decade, Quintana has struggled mightily in his first season with the Rockies. Colorado’s lefty currently posts an abysmal 4.91 ERA to go along with a 1.53 WHIP.

In addition to Quintana’s struggles thus far — particularly at Coors — Ozzie has absolutely dominated his previous matchups with the Rockies’ left-hander over the past few seasons.

In 19 career plate appearances (PA) versus Quintana, Ozzie has 9 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBIs, and 3 homers.

Albies and Quintana are headed in completely opposite directions thus far as Ozzie enters Friday night’s National League showdown in scorching form, while Quintana has been very ineffective in his first year with the Rockies.

Ozzie is one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball and thrives on both sides of the plate- and he gets a prime matchup versus a struggling SP he has previously dominated- not to mention Coors Field being the most hitter-friendly park in the Big Leagues.

That said, I feel great backing Ozzie Albies as my first “Total Base of the Day’ ahead of Friday night’s slate of games.

Andy Pages

vs. Cardinals, 8:15 PM ET

For my second ‘Total Base of the Day’ selection ahead of Friday’s slate of games, I will be targeting Dodgers’ OF Andy Pages, who is off to a phenomenal start to his 2026 campaign thus far.

The Dodgers head on the road to square off with the Cardinals on Friday night at Busch Stadium in what will be the first of a three-game series in Saint Louis.

For the home team, Cardinals’ left-hander Matthew Liberatore will take the mound after a relatively concerning start to his 2026 season thus far.

The Saint Louis lefty currently posts a 4.75 ERA over his first six outings of the season, to go along with a mediocre 1.55 WHIP.

Liberatore will have his toughest challenge to date on Friday night versus a Los Angeles lineup that is absolutely loaded from top-to-bottom.

While the Cardinals’ LHP has been far more reliable at its home ballpark at Busch, I still expect his struggles to continue on Friday when matched up with a Dodgers lineup that boasts tremendous power, heavy contact and hard-hit rate.

Though there are many Dodgers to choose from to exceed their 1.5 Total Base mark, I favor Pages due to his previous history versus the Cardinals’ lefty, and his remarkable efficiency at the plate in 2026 thus far.

Pages ranks 10th in baseball with a .321 AVG to go along with 25 RBIs, which ranks seventh in the Big Leagues. The Dodgers’ 25-year-old quietly had himself a stellar 2025 campaign, and he is surely picking up right where he left off.

In two career plate appearances (PA) versus Liberatore, Pages reached safely once with a base hit.

The Dodgers’ righty has a very impressive hitter profile, having shown great versatility in his ability to make hard contact versus both fastballs and an off-speed arsenal, which is very relevant ahead of Pages’ matchup with Liberatore.

As a left-handed pitcher, the Cardinals’ SP has had far more difficulty retiring right-handed batters, especially those who can hit for power- like Pages.

The Saint Louis lefty has had sizable complications with his command in 2026, and has added a couple more pitches to his arsenal — most notably a new splitter he has been using often.

Unfortunately for Liberatore, Pages thrives against high-and-breaking pitches and is unbelievably patient in the box, often getting ahead in the count.

If the Cardinals’ lefty is missing his spots on Friday with his off-speed arsenal, I could surely foresee the Dodgers’ slugger tagging one if left up in the zone.

In a game I expect runs to be plentiful, I feel good backing Andy Pages as my second ‘Total Base of the Day’ selection – further building on his remarkable start to the 2026 season.
