2Shayne Trail breaks down his favorite NRFI/YRFI bet of the day below, but you can follow all of his bets in the Action Network app.
Matchup | S. McClanahan (Rays) vs. S. Bieber (Guardians) |
First Pitch | 12:07 p.m. ET |
Shane McClanahan is 20-7 to the NRFI with a 6-3 road NRFI split. His most notable matchups today are Jose Ramirez and Amed Rosario, who are both 1-for-3 against him.
The Guardians will counter with veteran Shane Bieber, who is 26-5 to the NRFI with an impressive 11-2 home NRFI split. Bieber’s most notable matchups today are Isaac Paredes, who is 1-for-9, and Randy Arozarena, who is 0-for-5.
These two pitchers are by far the best NRFI options on today's slate, it just so happens we are lucky enough to have them facing each other.
Pick: NRFI via FanDuel (-170)
Matchup | Z. Wheeler (Phillies) vs. J. Quintana (Cardinals) |
First Pitch | 1:07 p.m. ET |
Zack Wheeler will toe the rubber for the Phillies in their first playoff game in quite some time. Wheeler is 23-3 to the NRFI with an 11–2 road NRFI split.
Wheeler’s most notable matchups today are Paul Goldschmidt, who is just 5-for-23, and Tommy Edman is is 1-for-9.
The Cardinals will send out newly acquired Jose Quintana, who is 30-5 to the NRFI with a 15-3 home NRFI split. Quintana’s most notable matchups are Nick Castellanos, who is 11-for-40, and Bryce Harper, who is 0-for-9.
Wheeler is still getting ramped up after an IL stint and I am not particularly sold on Quintana, with his xERA being just below 4.00.
Pick: YRFI (+135) via DraftKings
Matchup | L. Castillo (Mariners) vs. A. Manoah (Blue Jays) |
First Pitch | 4:07 p.m. ET |
The Mariners will send out their newly acquired pitcher, Luis Castillo, who is 19-6 to the NRFI with a 10-3 road NRFI split. His most noteworthy matchups today are Raimel Tapia, who has seven hits in 11 at-bats, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who is 0-for-3.
The Blue Jays will send out their ace Alek Manoah who is 26-5 to the NRFI with a perfect 15-0 road NRFI split. His biggest matchups today are Carlos Santana, who is 2-for-7, and leadoff hitter Julio Rodriguez, who is 0-for-3.
Both of these offenses slowed down to end the season, and the Blue Jays actually have worse home NRFI numbers than road NRFI numbers.
This is a respectable price considering the quality of these two pitchers.
Pick: NRFI via FanDuel (-140)
Matchup | Y. Darvish (Padres) vs. M. Scherzer (Mets) |
First Pitch | 8:07 p.m. ET |
Max Scherzer will toe the rubber for the Mets today. He is 18-5 to the NRFI with an 8-2 home NRFI split. His biggest matchups today are against Manny Machado, who is 8-for-50, and Jake Cronenworth, who is 0-for-13.
The Padres will counter with Yu Darvish, who is 22-8 to the NRFI with a weak 11–6 road NRFI split. His most notable matchups today are against Francisco Lindor, who is 6-for-15 against hi,m and Jeff McNeil, who is 1-for-11.
The Mets are one of the better home YRFI teams. They have a low NRFI when at home of 57% pairing that with Darvish's weak road NRFI split.
There is value here playing the YRFI.
Pick: YRFI (+135) via DraftKings
