Three players in good spots to shine tonight are Michael Harris II, Kyle Bradish, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for the MLB games on Monday, April 20.
MLB Player Props Today
- Michael Harris II Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + Runs Batted In (-115, bet365)
- Kyle Bradish Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-105, DraftKings)
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125, bet365)
Braves vs Nationals Player Props
The Braves are leading the MLB in runs scored and rank second in batting average and Ronald Acuna Jr. really has not gotten going yet. When they are going collectively, Harris is a player that can be overshadowed batting in the bottom of their order. However, that has not stopped him from being contributing to the offense.
This season, Harris is hitting .290 with four home runs, nine runs batted in, and a .816 OPS. He has hit a home run in two of his last three games and a third could be in the cards tonight. Harris is 7-for-18 with two doubles and two runs batted in off Jake Irvin to go along with a .950 OPS. Irvin has a 6.16 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and he has four extra-base hits to left-handed batters in his first four starts.
Harris has cleared both his total bases and hits, runs, runs batted in lines in four of his last seven games. While his bases have better odds, I prefer his HRRBI line because of his teammates. If Harris gets a hit from his ninth spot, one of Acuna, Drake Baldwin, and Matt Olson will be in line to drive him in. He has also recorded two HRRBI in nine of his last 13 games against the Nationals.
Of course, if he takes care of things himself, he offers value in other areas as he is +230 on DraftKings for an extra base hit and +620 for a home run.
Pick: Michael Harris II Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + Runs Batted In
Orioles vs Royals Player Props
Bradish made the All-MLB team in 2023 after going 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA and 168 strikeouts in 168 and 2/3 innings. Injuries derailed his next two seasons and he suffered and recovered from Tommy John surgery and was limited to 14 starts. When he returned last season, Bradish had a 2.53 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 32 innings. Now nearly two years from the surgery, expectations were high for him as the Orioles look to get to the playoffs, but he has gotten off to a rocky start.
Through his first four starts, Bradish has a 5.49 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. He had failed to surpass five innings in his first three starts before allowing six runs in six innings last time out against Arizona. However, tonight, he has a strong matchup to not only pitch well, but also work deep into the game.
The Royals head back home on a seven-game losing streak as they were swept on their road trip by the Tigers and Yankees. They have scored four runs or fewer in five of their last six games and two of their four runs came in the ninth inning on Saturday. They are last in the league in runs scored and 16th in wRC+ against right-handed pitchers.
Bradish will be making his first career start against the Royals, giving him the advantage of unfamiliarity. I do not expect his struggles to continue much longer, so I am buying low on him here. He may put together a quality start, but if he gets two outs in the sixth inning tonight, we will cash.
Pick: Kyle Bradish Over 15.5 Outs Recorded
Blue Jays vs Angels Player Props
Guerrero is hitting .333 this season and has a hit in 17 of 21 games. He heads to Anaheim with a hit in each of his last 10 games. He has had a single in each of those games, but he has added five doubles as well. Another trend to watch tonight is his dominance of the Angels.
In his last three series in Anaheim, Guerrero is hitting .487 with two home runs. He has recorded two total bases in eight of those nine games. With just one home run on the season thus far, Guerrero has not hit for much power as we are used to from him. However, that one home run was against a left-handed pitcher, which he will see tonight.
He will face Reid Detmers tonight, who is coming off seven dominant innings against the Yankees. However, he has alternated between rough and dominant outings in his four outings this season, which means he will struggle tonight if that trend continues. He has a 4.76 ERA in 17 career innings against the Blue Jays. If the Blue Jays get to Detmers tonight, I expect Guerrero to be right in the middle of it.
Pick: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases
