Our first custom NRFI selection for today features Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin. This season, Gonsolin has been in spectacular form, holding a 14-2 NRFI record with a perfect 8-0 home NRFI split. That brings his home NRFI record to an impressive 19-0 and his overall NRFI record to 35-4 since 2022.

When facing batters the first time through the order, Gonsolin has been nothing short of automatic, allowing only 17 hits in 128 at-bats for a remarkable .133 average. To Gonsolin's advantage, the Oakland A's hitters have never faced him in the past, which will give him the edge of unfamiliarity.

Our second custom NRFI selection today will be Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler. This season, Wheeler has been dominant, holding a 17-4 NRFI record with a 9-2 road NRFI split. That brings his overall NRFI record to an impressive 40-7 since 2022.

Being a divisional rival, Wheeler has faced the Miami Marlins hitters many times in his career and has held his own in those past games. Against Wheeler, Bryan De La Cruz has gone 3-11, Luis Arraez 1-6, Jon Berti 3-16 and Jesus Sanchez 2-8.

To his advantage, the Marlins as a team in 2023 have an alarming 81% NRFI rate, making them one of the worst first-inning hitting teams in baseball.

It should also be noted that newly acquired third baseman Jake Burger has the potential to bat within the first five batters and is currently in the midst of a severe slump, holding just seven hits in his last 42 at-bats for a .167 average. Another Marlins hitter who is on the verge of entering a slump is Jorge Soler, who has managed just nine hits in his last 45 at-bats, batting exactly .200.

This custom NRFI selection is -172 on DraftKings while Barstool is providing a slight edge at -165.

As always, six outs to glory…
