Our first custom NRFI selection today will highlight the potential American League MVP from the Los Angeles Angels, Shohei Ohtani. This season, Ohtani boasts a remarkable 15–6 NRFI record with a 10–2 home and NRFI split. This solidifies Ohtani's standing at 21–5 to the NRFI when pitching at home since 2022.
Notably, when facing batters for the first time, Ohtani's performance has been nothing short of exceptional, allowing only a .120 average in 166 at-bats.
Furthermore, Ohtani holds an advantage today as he hasn't faced the majority of San Francisco Giants hitters. Among the ones he has faced, he has successfully held Brandon Crawford to 0–3 and AJ Pollock to 0–4.
Our second custom NRFI selection for today will focus on the San Diego Padres veteran, Yu Darvish. This season, Darvish impressively holds a 16–4 NRFI record with a near-perfect 8–1 Road NRFI split. This brings Darvish's overall NRFI standing to 38–12 since 2022.
Much like Ohtani, Darvish excels when facing batters for the first time through the order, allowing just 29 hits in 150 at-bats for a .182 average.
