Shayne Trail breaks down his favorite NRFI/YRFI bets of the day below, but you can follow all of his bets in the Action Network app.
Freddy Peralta &
Zac Gallen
Matchup | Reds vs. Brewers · Cardinals vs. Diamondbacks |
First Pitch | 9:40 p.m. ET · 6:40 p.m. ET |
Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings, BetMGM and Barstool.
This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half-innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to have a better edge and tailor the bet to your preferences.
Our first selection for today's custom NRFI showcases Freddy Peralta of the Milwaukee Brewers. This season, Peralta has been in remarkable form, boasting an impressive 16-3 NRFI record, with a flawless 11-0 record at home, making his overall NRFI record an outstanding 28-8 since 2022.
Peralta's NRFI success can be attributed to his batting order split, where he has brilliantly held opposing teams' leadoff hitters to a mere .151 average, with just eight hits in 53 at-bats. In the past, Peralta has also demonstrated his prowess against the Cincinnati Reds' hitters, including Jonathan India (1-10), TJ Friedl (1-9), Elly De La Cruz (0-2), and Matt McLain (0-3).
Notably, Reds superstar De La Cruz has been struggling lately, managing only four hits in his last 44 at-bats for a .091 average. Surprisingly, despite the Reds boasting a stellar hitting lineup, they have achieved an alarming 82% NRFI rate on the road, holding a 40-9 road NRFI team record.
Our second selection for today's custom NRFI features potential National League Cy Young Award winner Zac Gallen. This season, Gallen has been nothing short of exceptional, with an impressive 17-4 NRFI record, including a near-perfect 9-1 NRFI split at home, bringing his overall NRFI record to an impressive 43-8 since 2022.
Against the St. Louis Cardinals hitters, Gallen has a smaller sample size, which works to his advantage. Notably, he has held Paul Goldschmidt (0-2) and Willson Contreras (2-6) in check. The Cardinals have achieved an NRFI rate of 70% on the road this season.
It is also worth mentioning that Gallen exhibits some notable home/road splits, with a remarkable 1.47 ERA at home compared to his 4.97 ERA on the road. Furthermore, Gallen has achieved the NRFI in 31 of his last 34 home starts, dating all the way back to June 2021.
This custom NRFI is priced at (-169) on Draftkings Sportsbook, but Barstool is providing a great edge (at -139).
As always, six outs to glory…
