Matchup | Martin Perez vs. Brady Singer |
First Pitch | 2:10 p.m. ET |
Today, we venture to Kauffman Stadium to analyze the No-Run First Inning (NRFI) value between the Rangers and Royals, focusing on the performance of Martin Perez and Brady Singer.
Perez had a commendable showing last season, achieving a 26-5 NRFI record and a 12-3 road NRFI split.
This season, while facing the first side of the order, Perez has allowed only five hits in 24 at-bats, resulting in a .208 average.
He also boasts strong performances against key Royals hitters: Hunter Dozier (5-20), Salvador Perez (3-16), Nicky Lopez (3-11), Bobby Witt Jr. (1-6), Edward Olivares (1-5) and MJ Melendez (1-6).
Moreover, the Royals possess the weakest first-inning offense in baseball, with a .131 batting average.
On the other side of the NRFI, Singer displayed an impressive 20-3 NRFI record last season, with a 12-1 home NRFI split.
Singer's performance is especially intriguing when it comes to NRFI pitching. Facing batters for the first time in the order, he has allowed just seven hits in 26 at-bats, yielding a .269 average.
However, his average nearly doubles during the second and third times through the order, with a .375 average allowed.
The Rangers also struggle in the first inning, managing a mere .205 average this season. While Perez has limited experience against these Rangers hitters, he has managed to keep Marcus Semien (0-3), Jonah Heim (0-3), Nathaniel Lowe (2-5) and Robbie Grossman (0-10) in check.
The NRFI offers exceptional value, with nearly even odds available on FanDuel Sportsbook at -110.
As always, six outs to glory.
