Jesus Luzardo &
Joe Musgrove
Matchup | Phillies vs. Marlins · Mets vs. Padres |
First Pitch | 1:40 p.m. ET · 4:10 p.m. ET |
Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool.
This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to have a better edge and tailor the bet to your preferences.
Our first selection for today's custom NRFI features Jesus Luzardo, the talented left-hander and ace of the Miami Marlins. Luzardo has been exceptional in NRFIs this season, boasting a remarkable 16-2 record. This extends his impressive overall NRFI performance to 31-4 since last season.
When facing batters the first time through the order, Luzardo has been highly proficient, allowing only 29 hits in 154 at-bats, resulting in a .188 average.
In past matchups against the Phillies, Luzardo has held his own, limiting Trea Turner (0-5), JT Realmuto (1-10), Bryce Harper (1-9), Alec Bohm (1-8) and Kyle Schwarber (2-6).
To Luzardo's advantage today, there are two key Phillies hitters who are currently in a slump. Nick Castellanos has recorded five hits in his last 27 at-bats for a .185 average, and Kyle Schwarber, who leads off today, has 11 hits in his last 57 at-bats for a .193 average.
Our second selection for today's custom NRFI is Joe Musgrove, the ace of the San Diego Padres. Musgrove holds an impressive 11-2 NRFI record this season, with a perfect 8-0 home NRFI split. This brings his overall NRFI performance to 34-8 since last season.
Similar to Luzardo, Musgrove has demonstrated success against specific matchups in the opposing lineup, including Brandon Nimmo (0-9), Starling Marte (3-11), Jeff McNeil (1-11), Daniel Vogelbach (1-11) and Francisco Lindor (6-20).
It's worth noting that leadoff hitter Brandon Nimmo has only recorded two hits in his last 23 at-bats for a .087 average. Following him, Pete Alonso has four hits in his last 24 at-bats for a .167 average.
This custom NRFI selection is at -152 on Barstool Sportsbook and -150 at DraftKings.
As always, six outs to glory …
