Matchup | Matthew Boyd vs. Sonny Gray |
First Pitch | 7:10 p.m. ET |
Today, we're off to Target Field to find value in an AL Central NRFI between the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins.
Sonny Gray will take the mound in the top half of the first inning, and he enters with an impressive 12-1 NRFI record (including a perfect 7-0 home NRFI record). Since last season, Gray has excelled early on, going 33-4 to the NRFI. Gray has limited opposing batters the first time through the lineup to a .182 average, with only 20 hits in 110 at-bats.
When facing the Tigers, Gray has held his own as key batters have struggled against him, including Javier Báez, who is just 1-21 against Gray in his career. It should be noted as well that the Tigers are one of the weaker first-inning hitting teams this season.
Left-handed pitcher Matthew Boyd will take the ball in the bottom half of the first inning for the Tigers. This year, Boyd has a strong 10-3 NRFI record paired with a solid 5-1 road NRFI record. Like Gray, Boyd also does well the first time through the order, allowing just a .204 average with only 20 hits in 98 at-bats. Boyd also has quality history against the Twins' hitters, with Max Kepler (2-20), Carlos Carrera (2-9), Joey Gallo (2-7) and Christian Vázquez (0-4) all struggling against him.
This NRFI is priced at a terrific -120 on both Caesars and FanDuel as well as -125 on DraftKings.
As always, six outs to glory…
