Shayne Trail breaks down his favorite NRFI/YRFI bets of the day below, but you can follow all of his bets in the Action Network app.
Matchup | K. Gausman (Blue Jays) vs. J. Lyles (Royals) |
First Pitch | 2:10 p.m. ET |
Matchup | B. Snell (Padres) vs. S. Strider (Braves) |
First Pitch | 7:20 p.m. ET |
Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool.
This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to have a better edge and tailor the bet to your preferences.
The first selection is Toronto Blue Jays ace pitcher, Kevin Gausman.
Gausman demonstrated remarkable skill in the previous season, boasting a 22-8 No Runs First Inning (NRFI) record, including a 12-3 road NRFI split.
The Kansas City Royals are a weak first-inning offense so far this season. They've managed a mere .182 first-inning average with just four hits in 23 at-bats.
Their leadoff hitter, Bobby Witt Jr., has been off to a slow start with a .095 average, followed by MJ Melendez at .111, and cleanup hitter Vinny Passquino at .118.
Gausman's has a small sample size against these Royals hitters but he has held his own: Salvador Perez is 0-for-2, Witt is 1-for-3 and Pasquantino is 1-for-3.
Our second focus is the emerging talent of Spencer Strider, who has been making waves since entering MLB.
Last season, Strider achieved an impressive 18-2 NRFI record, with a flawless 10-0 home NRFI split. When facing batters for the first time in the order, Strider limited opponents to a .171 average, allowing only 39 hits in 228 at-bats.
Although Strider has limited experience against the San Diego Padres' hitters, this unfamiliarity may work to his advantage. The few Padres' batters who have faced Strider have yet to find success: Juan Soto is 1-4, Manny Machado is 0-2, Nelson Cruz is 0-4 and Jake Cronenworth is 0-2.
This NRFI bet is (-169) over on Draftkings and (-170) over on Barstool Sportsbook.
As always six outs to glory…
