Shayne Trail breaks down his favorite NRFI/YRFI bets of the day below, but you can follow all of his bets in the Action Network app.
Matchup | F. Valdez (Astros) vs. R. Contreras (Pirates) |
First Pitch | 6:35 p.m. ET |
We venture to PNC Park today to find an enticing NRFI opportunity between the Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Left-handed pitcher Framber Valdez takes the mound for the Astros today. Last season, Valdez delivered an impressive 25-6 NRFI record, including a 15-2 road NRFI split. His performance against leadoff hitters was particularly dominant, allowing only 17 hits in 94 at-bats and resulting in a .181 average.
Valdez has limited experience against the Pirates' lineup, but his most notable matchup today is Carlos Santana, who has two hits in eight at-bats against him. However, the Pirates will be missing their star player, Oneil Cruz, due to an ankle injury sustained in Sunday's game against the White Sox, taking a formidable bat out of the top of the order.
On the other side of this NRFI proposition stands 23-year-old right-hander Roansy Contreras. Last season, Contreras had a stellar NRFI campaign, going 15-2 overall and maintaining an 8-0 home NRFI split. He allowed a mere 36 hits in 164 at-bats when facing hitters for the first time through the lineup.
Contreras has never faced any of the Astros' hitters, which could play to his advantage as the unfamiliarity may leave them off-balance. Additionally, over the past seven days, the Astros have experienced a slump in the first inning, hitting only .190 and managing just four hits in 25 plate appearances.
This NRFI bet is available at an appealing price of -135 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
As always six outs to glory…
