Sean Zerillo's Best Bet for Wednesday
The Cardinals need young pitching, and Michael McGreevey is a useful back-end arm. He has a six-pitch arsenal with lackluster stuff (90 Stuff+) but excellent command (112 Location+, 3.7% BB). It’s been a limited sample, but I think he can be an effective pitch-to-contact guy with a super-low barrel rate.
On the other side, is this the Austin Gomber revenge game?
The Rockies’ starter has allowed a .958 OPS across 75 head-to-head plate appearances against his former team. However, he’s recently introduced a new pitch mix, presenting a half-decent cutter in favor of his useless fastball. I think that'll help him significantly in the short term.
The Cardinals rank second among MLB lineups in wRC+ against southpaws over the past month. However, I still project their current lineup for a 98 wRC+ against the side. For argument’s sake, I upgraded their lineup to a 107 wRC+ for Wednesday, and I still only project 8.11 runs for this total.
The afternoon start should help the Under, and the Cardinals are off Thursday and can deploy their bullpen as needed.

Alex Hinton's Top Player Prop for Wednesday
Red Sox starter Walker Buehler has had a rocky campaign with a 5.40 ERA, but he is coming off his best outing of the season. Last Friday, he scattered four hits across six shutout innings against a Padres team that has won 13 of its past 16 games.
Still, he finished with just four strikeouts in the outing. It was the ninth consecutive start that Buehler has failed to reach five strikeouts.
One of those outings came against Houston just 11 days ago. He went 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits with zero strikeouts, marking the first start in his career he failed to record a single strikeout.
The Astros have also been a difficult team to punch out for several seasons. This season, they boast the seventh-lowest team strikeout rate against right-handed pitching.
Even Cy Young candidate Garrett Crochet failed to reach his strikeout prop in Monday’s matchup with the Astros. It’d be a surprise if Buehler earned five strikeouts on Wednesday.

Pick: Walker Buehler Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-150, Caesars)
Wednesday's Featured Bet Labs System
Powered by our own Evan Abrams, Unders with Soft Starters and Neutral Winds targets regular-season MLB games where softer home starting pitchers (low strikeout rates and moderate WHIPs) are on the mound in games three or four of a series.
By this point in the series, hitters have seen multiple arms, and scouting reports are sharper, yet scoring remains muted when the matchup lacks overpowering velocity and winds remain neutral.
With the home team in the middle of the season grind, winning at a modest clip, the market often overlooks how often these quiet conditions lead to slower-paced, low-scoring outcomes.
Four games on Wednesday fit this system, including Nationals-Royals (Jake Irvin vs. Seth Lugo), Tigers-White Sox (TBD vs. Shane Smith), Twins-Yankees (Joe Ryan vs. Cam Schlittler), and Rays-Athletics (Drew Rasmussen vs. J.T. Ginn).
Picks:
- Nationals vs. Royals Under 9 (-120, BetMGM)
- Tigers vs. White Sox Under 8.5 (+105, bet365)
- Twins vs. Yankees Under 8.5 (-102, FanDuel)
- Rays vs. Athletics Under 9.5 (-110, BetMGM)
