Will Priester's Phillies vs Yankees Best Bet: Keep Backing Wheeler

Zack Wheeler Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-135)

Mentally, it feels like Zack Wheeler can't keep this level of pitching all season.

When you go back and look at what he's doing, he's easily a top-three pitcher in baseball. The strikeouts have been there all season, and even in the toughest matchups, he has kept teams off balance.

While the Yankees can put up the runs, there will be strikeouts available, and at this point in the season, I just can't bet against Wheeler. I'm taking the over here.

Pick: Zack Wheeler Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-135)

Brit Devine's Blue Jays vs Tigers Best Bet: Good Matchup for Greene

Riley Greene Over 1.5 Total Bases (+145)

We are getting what I perceive to be very favorable odds with the Tigers' left-handed batters against Max Scherzer.

He has allowed almost unheard of numbers to left-handed batters this year, and while the sample size isn't huge, it's enough to start thinking that Scherzer is having real difficulty with opposite-handed batters.

He has allowed a .423 wOBA and six homers in just 14.2 IP to lefties this year after showing signs of struggling against them last season as well.

Riley Greene is the Tigers' best left-handed bat, and with his high strikeout rate looking to be mitigated by Scherzer's inability to strike out lefties so far, Greene should be able to make some very hard contact today.

Pick: Riley Greene Over 1.5 Total Bases (+145)

Charlie Wright's Padres vs Cardinals Best Bet: Fade This San Diego Offense

Padres First Five Innings Team Total Under 2.5 (-130)

San Diego has been putrid on offense over the past 30 days of game action. They rank comfortably last in OPS and wOBA vs. RHP. The Padres are ahead of only the Rockies and Pirates in wRC+ in that stretch.

Michael McGreevy has pitched well in limited MLB action. He has a 2.81 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP across 51.1 IP the past two seasons.

He dominated the Rockies in Coors Field last time out, allowing one earned run over seven innings. It was his 3rd career outing of 7+ innings and one ER or less, which is pretty impressive for a guy with seven career starts.

McGreevy probably isn't a sub-3.00 ERA pitcher, as his ERA estimators are around 4.00 this year, but he's been effective so far.

I don't hate the full game team total for San Diego at under 4.5 (-130). The main issue is the Cardinals' recent bullpen usage. It's a good unit (7th in ERA, 4th in xFIP), but they've been working hard lately.

Ryan Helsley, JoJo Romero, and Phil Maton have thrown in two of the last three days. Kyle Leahy threw 30 pitches yesterday. I prefer to stick to the first five innings approach.

Pick: Padres First Five Innings Team Total Under 2.5 Runs (-130)

Will Priester's Mariners vs Angels Best Bet: Go With Gilbert Ks

Logan Gilbert Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+110)

Logan Gilbert has been smoking hot in the strikeout department.

He is sitting at 36% on the season, and gets a really good matchup today with the Angels.

The Angels do have a lot of power bats in this lineup this season, but the fact still remains that this team is swinging with the best of them.

I think Gilbert has the stuff to get us to eight Ks today.

Pick: Logan Gilbert Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+110)
