Brewers, Giants Betting Preview: Jordan Hicks Prop Bet
Jordan Hicks has only walked three-plus batters in half of his starts so far this season, but his walks prop is still close to an auto-bet for me with the way he's been throwing the ball this season. He has cashed over 2.5 — where it sits today — in each of his last two outings.
Hicks is actually throwing the ball in the strike zone with more frequency this year. The problem is that when he doesn't, he's not fooling anyone.
Hicks' swinging strike rate outside the zone was 25% last year and is 24.3% for his career. Through four starts this season, that has dropped all the way down to 20.6%. Hicks finds success when he's effectively wild, but this year he's just wild.
The Brewers sport a top-10 walk rate against right-handed pitching this season. They have plenty of patient bats in their lineup, and I expect them to recognize Hicks' wildness and work deep counts against the veteran.

I'd consider Hicks under 16.5 outs recorded in this game as well considering he's likely to rack up a high pitch count in the early innings, but I really like the over 2.5 walks prop at plus-money.
