Astros vs Royals MLB Betting Preview
Story: Bobby Witt Jr to Shine on Saturday Night
The Royals will host the Astros on Saturday night in the second game of a three-game series at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
Below, I will break down Saturday’s contest and provide a same-game parlay (SGP) betting angle you can consider when wagering on this American League clash.
For the first leg of our SGP ahead of Saturday’s action, I favor targeting Royals superstar SS Bobby Witt Jr. to have a massive day at the plate.
Twenty-six-year-old right-hander Mike Burrows will make the start for the visiting Astros, while lefty Noah Cameron will take the mound for Kansas City.
While I will address Cameron’s form on the mound in the latter part of this article, Burrows’ struggles are far more relevant to the front end of our SGP.
Despite the Astros righty having posted solid metrics when pitching for the Pirates in his first two years in the big leagues, Burrows has taken a massive step in the wrong direction to kick off his 2026 campaign.
Houston’s right-hander has recorded an abysmal 5.77 ERA across his first 13 outings, allowing a whopping 47 earned runs (ER) in 73 innings.
Burrows has also been quite inefficient on the mound, posting a 1.57 WHIP in 2026.
Given his volatility and lack of control throughout the first few months of the season, I’m expecting a massive performance at the plate from one of the best players in all of baseball: Bobby Witt Jr.
While the Royals slugger has taken a slight step back statistically in 2026, I expect Witt to heat up sooner rather than later. Saturday night’s American League showdown presents a prime opportunity to target Kansas City’s 25-year-old phenom in the prop markets.
Burrows favors his four-seamer among several other pitches in his arsenal, which could surely be problematic given Witt’s elite proficiency at handling fastballs.
So far in 2026, Burrows has posted elevated walk rates and an extremely high home run-to-fly ball ratio, especially when facing right-handed hitters.
Witt’s elite plate discipline provides him a massive edge against the Astros righty, given Burrows’ horrific command of the strike zone through his first 13 starts.
The Royals shortstop boasts exceptional speed, along with high contact rates and raw power, which have collectively made him one of the premier sluggers in baseball over the last several seasons.
Witt’s patience at the plate frequently results in him reaching base, where he is one of the most efficient baserunners in MLB.
Given Burrows’ issues on the mound, particularly his lack of command, I favor backing Witt Jr. in the HRR (Hits + Runs + RBIs) market.
The Royals star boasts an exceptional combination of elite speed and raw power, which is why I’ll be betting on Bobby Witt Jr. to exceed an alternate 2.5 HRR mark and build a solid foundation for our SGP.
For the second leg of our SGP, I’ll be backing Kansas City to prevail over the first five innings of Saturday night’s game.
I expect the Royals to have a massive pitching edge in this matchup, largely due to the recent form of 26-year-old lefty Noah Cameron.
In addition to Burrows’ struggles, Cameron is coming off a phenomenal 2025 campaign and appears to be reverting back to his elite form despite opening 2026 with a few rocky starts.
Over his last four outings, the Royals lefty has allowed just four earned runs across 24 innings while striking out 27 hitters.
After posting remarkable splits as a rookie in 2025, finishing with a 2.99 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP, Cameron began his second season in the majors with a case of the “sophomore slump.”
Since then, Noah has reverted back to his elite 2025 form on the mound and has quickly re-established himself as one of the best young starters in baseball.
While the Royals have struggled as a team to begin the 2026 season, I love them on Saturday night, as I expect Cameron to dazzle in another impressive outing.
