The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants wrap up their three-game set at Chase Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Both squads are below .500 heading into the series finale. A pair of Jordans will take the mound in this NL West clash as the Giants will give the ball to Jordan Hicks while the Diamondbacks will start Jordan Montgomery.

Giants vs Diamondbacks odds have the game as a tossup with both teams listed at -110 on the moneyline; the over/under is 8 (-115o /-105u). Find my moneyline prediction for Giants vs Diamondbacks in my betting preview below.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants are in the midst of a six-game road trip against each of last season's World Series participants, although both the Diamondbacks and Rangers have had their struggles in 2024.

San Francisco sends out Jordan Hicks in the finale, who is coming off his worst start of the season on Friday against the Yankees.

New York torched Hicks for five runs (four earned) in 5 1/3 innings of a 6-2 victory at Oracle Park, and the right-hander was taken deep twice by Aaron Judge. Despite that subpar outing, Hicks still owns a solid 2.70 ERA this season, and his ERA drops to 1.36 in day starts.

The last time Hicks faced the Diamondbacks was on April 21 at Oracle Park — the former Cardinal yielded just one hit and one run in five innings — though he did walk four. Unfortunately for Hicks, the Giants couldn't hold on to a 2-1 lead after his departure and lost to the Diamondbacks by a final score of 5-3.

Hicks has consistently generated swings and misses as he is 8-4 to the over on his strikeout props this season, including a 4-1 mark to the over on the road.

Another notable trend for Wednesday is that the Giants have struggled in road series finales this season by compiling just a 3-6 mark while posting a 1-4-1 ledger in their last six road matinees in the first five (F5) innings.

Arizona Diamondbacks

The defending National League champions are dealing with an expected hangover from their run to the World Series last October.

The Diamondbacks closed out May with five consecutive losses, but started June on a high note with a pair of road victories over the New York Mets before walking off the Giants in Monday's series opener and coasting to an 8-5 win on Tuesday. This is their second four-game winning streak of the season.

Jordan Montgomery hasn't been the difference maker he was expected to be when Arizona signed him to a one-year, $25 million deal right before the season. The lefty, who helped lead the Texas Rangers to a World Series title last season, owns a 5.48 ERA, which is over two runs higher than his ERA from any of the past three seasons.

The Diamondbacks won four straight starts made by Montgomery in May. However, Montgomery was knocked around in his last start at Citi Field, where he couldn't hold an early 3-0 lead with the Mets scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Mets outlasted the Diamondbacks 10-9 as the southpaw was lit up for eight runs (six earned) in four innings, marking the second time this season he has given up at least six runs.

Montgomery's Arizona debut came in San Francisco on April 19, when he silenced the Giants' bats in a 17-1 rout. He allowed just one run in six innings in that outing, but Montgomery has not given up one run or fewer in any of his last seven starts.

Betting Pick & Prediction

The Giants have spun out of control since taking the first two games at home against the Phillies in late May. They will look to get revenge on Montgomery following that 16-run loss in the last matchup against him in April.

Both Hicks and Montgomery will look to rebound from poor starts, but Hicks owns better splits in this matchup.

I'm backing San Francisco to cash as a road underdog in the finale in Phoenix, with value on the moneyline down to +105.

Pick: Giants +114 (Play to +105)
