It's certainly been a disappointing season for the St. Louis Cardinals. They have a 27-40 record entering play Tuesday, and only the Washington Nationals have fewer wins among National League teams. The Cardinals were a playoff team last year with the MVP and MVP runner-up in Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado. Unfortunately, almost nothing has gone right for them so far this season. The Cardinals dropped the opening game of this series against the San Francisco Giants 4-3 on Monday night. Will St. Louis get back on track Tuesday?

Same-Game Parlay – San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals
Alex Cobb 5+ Strikeouts
Alex Cobb has gone over this number in each of his last four starts. In fact, he's had at least seven strikeouts in three of his last four starts. In his other start, he allowed seven runs to the Milwaukee Brewers in four innings and still managed to record five strikeouts. I really doubt the Cardinals' offense will explode like that here against Cobb. The Cardinals' projected lineup has combined for just a 21% strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers this season, but they do have five right-handed batters and Cobb has a 28% strikeout rate against right-handed hitters this season.
Joc Pederson 2+ Total Bases
Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty has pitched much better over the last month or so. Flaherty hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a start in any of his last six starts. Still, he has a 4.48 xFIP on the season. Joc Pederson is in a good matchup whenever he's facing a right-handed pitcher. Pederson came off the injured list last week and got the day off Monday as the Cardinals were starting a left-handed pitcher. Pederson has a .277 ISO against right-handed pitchers this season. We just need a double or two singles to cover this leg of our same-game parlay.
Giants Moneyline
It's easy to pick on the Cardinals this season, but I'm going to do it here. While Flaherty has pitched better over his last six starts, Cobb is still the superior pitcher, which gives the Giants an edge early in the game.
Cobb has just a 3.25 xFIP this season. I like the Giants' lineup better at this point in the year. San Francisco is seventh in the league, averaging 5.13 runs per game on the road this season. The bullpens are close, as the Cardinals have a 4.05 bullpen ERA compared to the Giants' 3.97. The Cardinals bullpen blew a late one-run lead to the Giants on Monday, though. With the way the Cardinals' season has been going, I'm not betting that they turn it around against the Giants on Tuesday.
