Cubs vs White Sox MLB Parlay Picks & SGP Odds

Cubs vs White Sox MLB Parlay Picks & SGP Odds article feature image

Tonight, the Cubs and White Sox will meet for the first of two games on the Southside. In June, the Cubs rallied for consecutive 7-6 victories at Wrigley Field. Dating back to the last season, the Cubs have won the last three meetings and can clinch a series victory in the Crosstown Classic tonight.

They may be taking on their cross-town rival at the right time. The White Sox avoided an AL record-breaking 22nd loss with a victory in Oakland on Tuesday, but they have still lost 22 of their last 23 games. Read on to see how I will be backing the Chicago in this three-leg Cubs vs. White Sox same game parlay (SGP).

Garrett Crochet Under 5.5 Strikeouts (+140)

Cubs vs. White Sox, 8:10 p.m. ET

Garrett Crochet has been one of the breakout stars this season as he enters tonight's start with 6-8 with a 3.19 ERA and 162 strikeouts, which is sixth in the MLB. If Crochet was making this start a few months ago, I would be interested in his ladder considering that he has six starts with double-digit strikeouts this season. However, Crochet has blew pass his career high in innings and that is starting to show.

Crochet has thrown four innings or less in each of his last five starts. He was a trade candidate for much of that time, but still lasted just four innings last Saturday at Minnesota post-trade deadline. In that span, Crochet has recorded six strikeouts in just one of his last five starts. In three of them, he had four or less.

If Crochet is capped at four innings, he is certainly still capable of fanning six batters. However, tonight may be difficult because the Cubs are 20th in strikeout rate against left-handed pitchers over the last month. Additionally, we're getting plus odds for an 80% hit rate recently, which provides a big boost the odds of this parlay.

Alternate Total Over 7.5 (-152)

In Crochet's last start, he allowed one hit- a solo home run-in his four innings. The White Sox bullpen allowed four runs in four innings as the Twins pulled away for a 6-2 victory. The White Sox rank 28th in the MLB with a 5.04 bullpen ERA. The Cubs also scored 10 runs in six innings against the White Sox bullpen in the first two meetings. If the Cubs can't generate much offense against Crochet, I am confident that they will be able to do so against the White Sox's bullpen.

Additionally, there has been eight runs scored in seven of the White Sox past home games. I am dropping the total by one in case the White Sox struggle to score tonight, but the Cubs' bats are hot right now. In August, they are averaging 5.1 runs per game. Michael Busch has led the way hitting .333 with three home runs and five runs batted in over the last week. Additionally, Dansby Swanson and Pete Crow-Armstrong are both hitting .350 over the last week. There have been eight runs scored in 11 of the Cub's last 12 games.

Cubs ML (-148)

There is not a better bet in baseball right now than fading the White Sox. As mentioned, they have lost 22 of their last 23 games. However, the moneyline price for their opponents usually is -200 or sometimes -300 odds. That means the Cubs have great value at -148 tonight. That price has a lot to do with Crochet getting the start, but if he has another short outing, the Cubs' chances of winning this game improve significantly.

Additionally, the Cubs are playing well themselves right now as they have won five of their last seven games and outscored their opponents 36-22 in that stretch. They will start Jameson Taillon tonight, who the White Sox did score five runs off of in June.

However, he has enjoyed a strong season with a 3.25 ERA and he has a 3.58 ERA in five career starts against the White Sox. Since that outing, he has allowed three runs or fewer in eight of his last 10 starts. I expect him to have more success against Chicago this time around and give the Cubs a great chance to win tonight's game.
