Major League Baseball's Opening Day starts in the afternoon, but there are still a few night games. Fans who waited all offseason to see nine men in pajamas take the field will surely want to stay up for the late game that includes two of the greatest baseball players of all-time in Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.
This game is extra special in that Ohtani will be the starting pitcher in addition to taking his hacks at the plate. This is said to be an especially important year for the Angels as Ohtani is headed for free agency this offseason so they'd like to get off to a nice start to the season.
There might not be a better team in baseball to actually achieve that nice start against than the Oakland Athletics, who seem destined to play the role of the Washington Generals to the Angels' Harlem Globetrotters in this one.

I really like the Angels in this one. The moneyline should be closer to -300 than it is. If you're a more conservative bettor than myself, feel free to take the moneyline instead of the run line as I believe both are good value here.
Not only is Ohtani, the Angels' best pitcher, on the mound, but Los Angeles has made some considerable additions to its lineup this offseason. The additions of Hunter Renfroe, Brandon Drury and Gio Urshela should boost a lineup that will also have a healthy Anthony Rendon, who is a former All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner.
On the mound for the opposing Athletics is Kyle Muller, who might be the worst of all the Opening Day starting pitchers this season. Muller has just 49 innings at the major league level under his belt and carries a 5.14 ERA.
Back the Angels.
Shohei Ohtani Over 6.5 Strikeouts
In four starts against the Athletics last year, Ohtani covered this number twice, including a 10-strikeout game where he completed eight innings. In the two starts where he didn't reach seven strikeouts, he only went five or six innings.
With Ohtani playing in the World Baseball Classic prior to this season, I think there's a good chance he's more ready for this season and can work deeper into the game here. It's also a very important year for the Angels and their bullpen isn't good, so the more he can pitch the better.
Oakland also has six batters in its lineup with at least a 20% K-rate against right-handed pitching last year. That doesn't bode well for them making much contact against Ohtani in this one.
Hunter Renfroe 2+ RBI
Renfroe was a key addition to the Angels' lineup this offseason and I expect him to get off to a good start here. Muller has thrown just 49 innings in the major leagues, but in that time he has a 13% walk percentage.
With Renfroe projected to bat fifth, he should see plenty of baserunners early in the game with more imposing threats like Trout, Ohtani and Rendon batting ahead of him. That should give him the opportunity to drive in runs here.
Renfroe also had a .233 ISO against left-handed pitchers last season and he'd only need one runner on base to cover 2+ RBI if he were to hit a home run.
