First start - already up to 95 pitches and K’ed a very tough to K nats squad 6 times (14 whiffs). Now he gets the Rockies who are awful vs lefties (25.5 K% and 65 wRC+) and really awful vs lefties on the road (27.4%, 64). 7 of 10 pitchers have hit this vs COL at home this season - two misses were pitchers on short rest/pitch count caps, and the third is Rich Hill. One start is hardly a sample size, but he does have decent K stuff (averages 8.2 K per 9 over 200+ MLB innings). And he did feature a new slider with a bit more run, higher velo and more spin vs WSH. It’s a bit speculative, and he’s not a great pitcher, but the Rockies have bailed out worse lefties this season.
