The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers meet in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final at 8 p.m. ET tonight.

The game will be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and will be broadcast on TNT, TruTV and streamed live on Max.

Total and utter chaos. That's essentially what you can call this series, because aside from Game 3, every game has gone into overtime and ended in dramatic fashion. Edmonton has the ability to get one step closer to that coveted Stanley Cup, a trophy that has evaded the Oilers since 1990, while Florida looks to go back-to-back in hopes of building a dynasty.

Check out my Panthers vs. Oilers pick and NHL odds for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday, June 12.

Florida Panthers Preview: Highs and Lows

With how often these two teams have played, you’d figure the Panthers would’ve recognized the Oilers were going to give them their best shot.

And they did… to start, at least.

After taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the first period, outshooting the Oilers 17-7, and forcing Edmonton to pull Stuart Skinner for Calvin Pickard, it all but seemed in the bag for the Panthers.

Guess again.

Four straight goals from the Oilers sent Sunrise into a panic. But at the drop of a dime, Florida bounced back. Sam Reinhart, Mr. Do-It-All, sent this game to overtime with a tying goal with 19 seconds left in the third.

Pure jubilation. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were loving every second of it.

Then the air deflated from Amerant Bank Arena, the second Leon Draisaitl one-handed the puck past Sergei Bobrovsky to tie up the series.

Good news for Florida? Matthew Tkachuk reads my articles and saw me call him out. Game 4 was the second in a row that Tkachuk ranked top two in efficiency. He ran with it, scoring the first two goals and logging the primary assist on Reinhart’s tying goal.

Last game, I praised Bobrovsky for shutting down rebounds.

Turns out that was the kiss of death.

After giving up minimal rebounds in Game 3, he allowed seven in Game 4. He also posted a -0.47 GSAx — his worst showing of the series.

Edmonton Oilers Preview: Depth Reigns Supreme

I felt terrible for Skinner. He started the game looking confident and made really key saves. But the team in front of him made it impossible for Mr. Game 4 to live up to his name.

Edmonton was awful in the first period; truly getting outclassed by the Panthers. Penalties sent this team into dire desperation after 20 minutes.

In comes Pickard. Coach Kris Knoblauch needed to inject some life into his group.

And the depth showed out. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who has been on "game-time decision" watch for the past two games, notched a goal assisted by Draisaitl and Connor McDavid.

Then Darnell Nurse sniped it top-corner where Bobrovsky had no shot to save it. It even surprised Nurse.

Finally, to complete the comeback, Vasily Podkolzin evened it up in the second. The stat sheet may not show it, but I love Podkolzin as a player. He's the perfect type of player a team needs in games like these.

In addition to Nugent-Hopkins, Jeff Skinner had himself a great game. Even if he didn't register a point, his expected goals were second on the team behind Nugent-Hopkins.

Pickard was also massive in this bout, stifling the Panthers in any way possible. He posted a 0.82 GSAx while also doing a fantastic job at limiting high-danger chances via rebounds.

After that performance, though, does Knoblauch continue to ride with the hot hand?

Oilers vs. Panthers Best Bet

This series has been all over the place, and that's what makes it an instant classic.

You never know what you're going to get from these two teams because of how evenly matched they are, and the star power that comes with them, which is why I've primarily leaned towards anytime goal scorers.

Tonight, I'll be keeping an eye on the other Skinner — Jeff.

Skinner's been bounced around a lot during the playoffs, but every time his name has been called, he's performed at a high level. Which sometimes, you wonder why he hasn't been playing as much, but I digress.

Skinner's only played three games in the playoffs, and registered two points, one being a goal.

At the pace he's been playing at, he'd probably be at the top of the leaderboard in terms of expected goals.

However, in expected goals per 60 minutes, he's leading the team by a full point — above Corey Perry, who's been a menace all playoffs.

People may forget that he was a 40-goal scorer at one point, and now he's taking a depth role to contribute to a winning team. The skill is still there, as is the impact on the ice.

At +550, I love this value. We did pretty well when Evander Kane helped us cash out in Game 2, and even though I picked Anton Lundell in Game 3, he scored in Game 4. So let's keep the train rolling.

Pick: Jeff Skinner Anytime Goal Scorer (+550)
