Philadelphia Eagles vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Week 4 Preview

I'm backing the Buccaneers as home underdogs against the Eagles in Week 4.

Last week, I talked about how we just don't know exactly what the "new normal" looks like for the Eagles.

We knew there was going to be a downtick in the Eagles' overall production simply because of all the talent turnover on the defensive side of the ball, but the D-line is particularly weaker than it was last season.

Many things are different for the Eagles now, and despite owning a record of 3-0, I'm still not counting out the possibility of a Super Bowl hangover for Philly.

I thought the Eagles were a good fade candidate last week, and sure enough, they came out and did absolutely nothing on offense in the first half of the game, falling behind by a score of 26-7, only for the Rams to suffer a brutal collapse and lose the game on a miraculous blocked field goal in the final moments.

Everyone is saying the Eagles’ passing game is magically fixed. But the Eagles only really managed to find success with the same two routes to AJ Brown last week, who was pushing off on half of his catches.

There's no creativity, no juice. The Eagles are playing from behind and just throwing it up to Brown.

The Eagles' passing game is still broken. Saquon Barkley is having difficulty running inside the box. They might be in trouble.

The Buccaneers are going to bring pressure and try to make Jalen Hurts beat the blitz, and they’ve been pretty successful with that strategy in the past. They've always given the Eagles' offense fits.

The Eagles traveled down to Tampa Bay early in the week to try to acclimate to the humidity, which sounds like a great idea and all, but I think it may mean the Buccaneers own some real estate inside the Eagles' head space.

This is a Bucs team that Philly simply hasn't been able to beat for some reason, and I'm not so sure anything is going to change this week.

Eagles vs Buccaneers Best Bets, Analysis

Do we really think the Eagles are four points better than the Buccaneers in Tampa? I don't.

Philadelphia hasn’t been blocking it up as well on offense. Jalen Hurts doesn't look as comfortable within the offense.

Barkley and Brown don't look as explosive as they did in previous years.

The Eagles aren't calling many designed runs for Hurts anymore. Will that finally change this week? I don't know.

This is one of those matchups where recent box scores show that both teams have been incredibly lucky, especially the Buccaneers in this case.

But I also think the Bucs might just have the Eagles' number in this matchup, given the recent history.

I like the potential for variance here. So, I'll buy low on the Buccaneers moneyline in this spot,  and may consider playing the spread too.
