Washington Huskies Football
The 2023 season was a massive success for the Washington Huskies, who won the Pac-12, beat Texas in the College Football Playoff and finished 14-1 after losing to Michigan in the national championship. Repeating that success will certainly be tough, but if you believe in the Huskies, check out the college football futures markets.
However, before you place your Washington futures, you may want to consider just how much change this program is set to endure in 2024. Not only are the Huskies moving from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten, but they also have to replace their quarterback and top receiver after Michael Penix Jr. (Falcons) and Rome Odunze (Bears) were each selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. If that wasn't enough, the Huskies also lost coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama and replaced him with Jedd Fisch, whom they hired away from Arizona.
A lot of change? Yes, but Washington is still expected to be plenty talented in 2024. Need proof? Just check our college football power ratings.
There are plenty of ways to bet the Huskies in 2024, so let's have a look.
Washington Huskies Point Spreads
"Covering the spread" is a reference to a spread bet, which is a bet on how much a team will win the game by.
Here’s how a Huskies spread might look:
- Utah +9.5 (-110)
- Washington -9.5 (-110)
The minus sign in front of the Huskies indicates that they're the favorite, while the plus sign indicates the Utes are the underdogs. The 9.5 is the spread, which denotes how much a team needs to win or lose by to cover.
For example, if Washington beats Utah 31-21, the Huskies would cover this spread. Washington needs to win by 10 or more to win a spread bet in this example. On the other hand, Utah can cover with a win, or a loss by nine or fewer points.
Washington Huskies Over/Unders
Oddsmakers set the over/under (also referred to as the total) at how many points they think will be scored. For example, if the total for the game against Utah was set at 46.5, over bettors would need at least 47 combined points -- perhaps a final score of 31-16 -- to cash their tickets. Conversely, under bettors would need 46 or fewer total points scored in order to win their bets. These bets strictly deal with the amount of points scored in a game. If you bet the over/under, it doesn't matter which teams wins or loses.
Washington Huskies Moneylines
Moneyline odds take into account how likely a team is to win the game and adjusts the payout accordingly.
Washington defeating Utah as a -300 favorite is fine, but a $30 bet pays out just $10. If you’re able to catch the Huskies as a +300 underdog, though, a $10 bet on them profits $30. These bets are simplest to understand with $10 or $100 as a unit, but the math is the same regardless.
Again, the favorite is marked with a minus sign and the underdog gets a plus sign.
Washington Huskies Props
Player props are bets on the stats put up by a player for a single game. If you're a fan of fantasy football, player props are likely to appeal to you. These are bets on how many yards a receiver will have, how many touchdowns a quarterback will throw or which players will score touchdowns.
Washington Huskies Futures
Futures are wagers that settle at the end of the season. Besides odds to win the conference, popular futures bets include players' odds to win certain end-of-season awards or over/unders on team wins throughout the year.
