New Mexico Lobos Odds, Bet Types, and Team History

After four seasons of Danny Gonzales, Bronco Mendenhall is taking over the Lobos after a 4-8 campaign in 2023. That's good news for Lobo fans as Mendenhall has been bowl eligible in 16 of his 17 years coaching in the college game.

With reports of quarterback Devon Dampier having a solid spring, the Lobos are in a good place offensively heading into the Mountain West.

In fact, New Mexico is projected to finish fifth in the conference this season.

Here's how to bet the Lobos heading into Mendenhall's first campaign.

Betting on the New Mexico Lobos

New Mexico Lobos Moneyline

Betting on the moneyline basically means that you are picking the winner of a contest. If the team you pick wins, you win the bet. Check out this example:

Montana State -450

New Mexico +340

The minus (-) and plus (+) signs show which team is the favorite/underdog, and Montana State is favored in our hypothetical scenario. An easy way to understand how odds work is to think about betting in increments of $100. Betting on Montana State to win would mean every $450 bet nets $100. If you bet on New Mexico, it's the opposite because it's the underdog, and betting $100 would yield $340.

You can use moneylines as part of a parlay, which is simply multiple bets combined into one larger bet. For example, if you bet the Montana State moneyline and a -11.5 point spread, Montana State would need to win by 12 points or more for you to win. Though there is a higher level of risk, the payout is also higher if you win. You can use our Odds Calculator to determine the profits you get from any bet.

New Mexico Lobos Point Spread

Betting point spreads basically means that you are betting on whether a team will win or lose by a certain number of points. Here’s an example:

Montana State -11.5 (-110)

New Mexico +11.5 (-110)

In this situation, Montana State are favored by 11.5 points against New Mexico. If Montana State wins the game by 12 or more points, a $100 wager on the Rainbow Warriors would yield $110 in profit. If New Mexico wins the game against Montana State or loses by 11 points or less, then you get back your $100 stake and $110 in profits.

New Mexico Lobos Over/Under

Over/under (point total) is a bet regarding the combined scoring by both teams in a given game. Your sportsbook will give you a line, and you have to determine whether the combined scoring will go over or under the number provided.

New Mexico will go against Montana State on Aug. 24. Let's assume that the over/under for that game is set at 54.5 points. To win an over bet, they would have to score at least 55 points combined. Betting the under means that the two teams would need to score 54 or fewer points for you to win.
