BYU Cougars 2024 Season Preview
BYU enters the 2024 season eager to bounce back after a dissapointing 2023 campaign. The Cougars finished their inagural season in the Big 12 5-7, while ending the season on a five-game losing streak. However, there is more optimism that the Cougars will compete this season as they've added talent and depth to matchup with the rest of the Big 12.
Head coach Kilani Sitake and offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick have built BYU up on the offensive side of the ball to build on its eight returning starters. Five of those eight returning starter will bring experience to the newly annointed starting quarterback.
Former Baylor quarterback Gerry Bohanon Sr. will take over under center after winning the spring competition for the starting spot. As mentioned before, he'll have a veteran receiving corps at his disposal and a budding running back in LJ Martin at his side.
The Cougars defense is also set to improve as 2023 did not go to plan. BYU finished tied for dead last in the country in sacks and was ran through by the top back in the Big 12. However, the six returning starters were all of the their top tacklers in 2023, and they should pair well with the junior college tranfers.
Despite expected improvement. BYU has the longest odds win the Big 12 in 2024 with consensus odds of +12000.
