My Wichita State vs Florida College Basketball Betting Preview
Wichita State is 6-0, with victories over Saint Louis (by 25) and Minnesota in overtime. But the competition level takes a step up on Friday, as the Shockers face No. 18 Florida in the Sunshine State.
The Gators are ninth in adjusted offensive efficiency, according to KenPom, and have a backcourt that consists of Walter Clayton Jr., Will Richard and Alijah Martin.
The best offensive team the Shockers have faced is Saint Louis, but the Billikens were without their best player Robbie Avila.
Florida defeated a solid Wake Forest team by 17 points despite shooting only 30% from 3 and less than 40% from the field.
In fact, it's encouraging that the Gators' weakness coming into the season (the frontcourt) has more than held its own. The Gators crushed the Deacons on the glass 44-30 and got 12 points from Alex Condon.
What scares me about this bet is Wichita State has a lot of experience; it has seven seniors in its rotation, including transfers who have played at a power-conference level in Justin Hill (Georgia), Ronnie DeGray III (Missouri) and Harlond Beverly (Miami FL), among others.
However, I think the Gators are just at a different level talent wise. Guards win in college basketball and Florida has one of the best trios in the nation. Don't bet this big, though.
