Texas A&M vs Tennessee College Basketball Betting Preview

Texas A&M Basketball

Bucky Ball is off to a sizzling start in College Station, as the Aggies are 13-3 overall and 3-0 in the SEC.

Texas A&M plays at one of the fastest tempos in basketball and is one of the most unselfish teams in the country. Five of the Aggies' players are currently scoring 10 points per game or more, while the team as a whole averages 20 assists per game.

Rashaun Agee has been a man amongst boys against opponents this season. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound senior averages 13 points and 8.6 rebounds per game and has had seven double-doubles this season, including three in his last four games.

For Texas A&M to beat a physical Tennessee team, Agee will need to continue to play with an elite motor. He's playing against a talented Tennessee frontcourt that's shown a vulnerability towards give up double-doubles to opposing big men, like it did against Florida's Rueben Chinyelu.

Rubén Dominguez leads Texas A&M in scoring at 13.7 points per game and has averaged exactly that in three conference games so far. Dominguez has shot 47% from 3 on the season, and all 12 of his made field goals in conference play have been triples.

Tennessee Basketball

Tennessee is 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the SEC heading into this matchup.

The Vols have been so up and down this season that it's been frustrating to watch.

Ja'Kobi Gillespie had 12 points on 3of–10 shooting in the team's loss against Florida after putting up 34 points on 12-of-18 shooting in the win against Texas.

Gillespie carries a lot of the burden for a Tennessee team that can't create its own shots off the dribble outside of him. That makes the Vols easier to guard and harder for Gillespie to get clean looks.

Nate Ament had a solid game against the Gators' frontcourt, scoring 17 points. I think he should have another solid game against Texas A&M, especially considering the expected pace of the game.

One player that needs to step up for Tennessee is Bishop Boswell. Boswell has started every game this season and has had a tough go of it in SEC play.

He's averaged 22 minutes in three SEC games thus far, and he got dinged for four fouls in each of the first two. In the loss to Florida, Boswell turned the ball over six times in 21 minutes.

Boswell does a good job of crashing the glass considering his size, but the Volunteers need more out of him if they want to win games against the top of the SEC.

Texas A&M vs. Tennessee Betting Analysis

Tennessee has the 13th-best defense, according to KenPom, but it gave up 86 points and 91 points in its two conference losses.

Texas A&M has things rolling right now with its offensive pace and decision making.

Tennessee should have a bounce back win at home against a feisty Aggies team, but this is too many points.

My Pick: Texas A&M +9.5 (Play to +8.5)
