North Texas vs UC Irvine College Basketball Betting Preview
The two-seeded North Texas Mean Green are favored by 1.5 points versus the one-seed and 31-6 UC Irvine Anteaters.
North Texas has been red hot, winning four of its last five games and covering the spread in three of those games.
Jasper Floyd has been leading the Mean Green with an average of almost 16 points per game in the NIT.
North Texas previously beat Oklahoma State on the road in thrilling fashion, as it won by just two points. The Mean Green were 1.5-point underdogs in that matchup.
UC Irvine, on the other hand, has won four of its last five games, with its only loss coming in the Big West Championship game against UC San Diego by 14.
This UC Irvine team has been fearless all season long and covering machines. The Anteaters are 21-12 ATS, and I expect it to get another win here.
UC Irvine has been led by senior forward Devin Tillis, as he's had 20+ points in two of the three NIT games while shooting the 3-ball effectively. Tillis matches up very well against North Texas on Tuesday, and I see him continuing to have a monster impact in this event.
North Texas head coach Ross Hodge has been involved in the coaching carousel, and I’m concerned that this will impact this North Texas team. Hodge accepted the West Virginia coaching job, and I'm worried that it's a distraction.
Whether it is or not, I think that UC Irvine is the better side in this game. UC Irvine has a better defense, and we know that defense travels and how crucial it is in March.
UC Irvine is full of seniors, and I think that it wants this one badly with a chance to bring an NIT title back home.
This game will be close, but in the end, the defensive pressure and the experience of the Anteaters will be too much for North Texas.
