George Washington Basketball

George Washington comes into this game with a 6-2 record, having lost two of its last three games.

Fortunately for the Colonials, it’s a bit of a step down in class here as they face Army.

The Revolutionaries are a fringe tournament team looking to improve on last season, a campaign that saw a much-improved effort.

This is a team ranked in the top 60 by KenPom, and it has done so through the wealth of experience this roster brings (22nd nationally).

They have also done a tremendous job on the glass, outrebounding their opponents on a nightly basis.

Considering they’ll have a sizable advantage in terms of average length against Army, they should have another good night on the glass.

George Washington is also battle-tested. It has played many of its games on the road or on neutral courts, so traveling to West Point for an early-morning affair doesn't pose much of an issue.

The Revolutionaries have a balanced attack, with five players averaging double digits. Seven of their players are averaging at least eight points per game.

This team is also led by the one-time Providence Friar Rafael Castro, who's leading the team in points and rebounds per game at 15.9 and 7.9, respectively.

Army Basketball

This Army team is typical of what you get at the naval academies, one that lacks size. The Black Knights' average length is exactly what hurts them on a nightly basis, as they rank outside of the top 300 in that category.

Also, their overall metrics are a mess. They rank outside the top 300 in both defensive and offensive adjusted efficiency.

They have three wins, and only two have come against Division I opponents.

We also give them grace as their strength of schedule is slightly better than that of Georget Washington.

One thing the Army has excelled at this season is getting to the line and knocking down free throws. They also do a really good job of not turning the ball over through unforced errors, ranking in the top third nationally in that department.

The George Washington defense also won’t create a bunch of turnovers, so we expect a cleaner game involving less chaos.

George Washington vs. Army Betting Analysis

Army has been defeated six times this season, losing by at least 21 in four of the games.

But outside of the Duke game, the Black Knights' losses have been by seven, 23, 23, 21 and 17, respectively.

Their games all come down to the final few possessions when it comes to covering the spread.

An early-morning start that has George Washington traveling to New York might work in Army's favor.

I don’t think I can lay the spread, and I would take anything that's +20 or better.

My Pick: Army +21.5 (Play to +20)
