Phoenix Suns vs Miami Heat NBA Preview

The Suns are still one of the NBA's best stories and most underrated teams around this midway point of the season.

The Heat were poised to be in that same category, but have regressed since their first several weeks, and are now hanging on to an above .500 record, which is exactly what they tend to do dating back to the 2022-23 season.

The Suns coming into this one on a three-game winning streak, and are also in a stretch where they've gone 9-2 in their last 11.

This year, the Suns are 6-0 as road favorites against the spread, which is the best record in the league in this spot.

Injury wise, the Heat are also a team to monitor on game day. As of this morning, Norman Powell (back) is questionable. Terry Rozier (feds) remains out.

For the Suns, Jalen Green (hamstring) remains out, as will former Heat guard Jamaree Bouyea (concussion).

Suns vs Heat Betting Predictions, Analysis

This one pains me because he's one of my favorite players in the league, but Bam Adebayo absolutely looks like he's playing through an injury that the Heat won't disclose.

His early-season athleticism is gone, his touch is off, his confidence has faded, and this new Heat offense doesn't get him any easy looks, nor can he create any for himself right now because he's compromised.

On top of all that: Bam isn't shooting threes anymore, which is really why I feel comfortable with this being the right read.

Bam was still averaging 19 and 9 while shooting 48 percent from the field and 34 percent from three through the first 20 games of the season, which included a stretch where he missed two weeks with a toe injury.

This is an acceptable stretch of hoops, and the end is where he began tailing off.

In 11 games since then, Bam has scored 15 points just twice, averaging 11.4 points per game while shooting 35.7 percent from the field and he's just 5-for-23 from deep. He's only accumulated more than four free throw attempts just twice during this stretch.

Plus, the Heat may otherwise be healthy tonight, even if he's the one who should be on the report. Phoenix allows the 10th-fewest points in the paint this season.
