Knicks vs Rockets NBA Tuesday Preview
This is arguably the game of the night. When these two teams met on February 21, it looked like the Knicks were going to get stomped on multiple occasions — but they clawed their way back with a furious fourth-quarter rally amid a late offensive collapse by the Rockets.
The Knicks won by a score of 108-106 at Madison Square Garden. After trailing 91-75 after three quarters, New York outscored Houston 33-15 in the final stanza to win the game, despite being down by double digits with as little as 8:30 to go.
The Rockets are still mostly healthy relative to the rest of the year, with only Steven Adams (shoulder) and Fred VanVleet (ACL) out.
Landry Shamet (knee) is out for the Knicks. Deuce McBride (pelvis) is questionable; although, I'd be surprised if he plays, given that he seemed to re-aggravate his core injury over the weekend against the Thunder — which was an injury that sidelined him for two months.
Knicks vs Rockets Picks, Betting Predictions
Kevin Durant has averaged 6.0 three-point attempts per game since attempting 10 in the aforementioned game against the Knicks — and prior to that, he was averaging 5.7.
More narrowly, he's averaging 7.2 attempts in his last six outings, which coincides with the Rockets' decision to insert Reed Sheppard into the starting lineup until further notice.
If you want to hurt the Knicks' defense, you have to do it from deep. Even as their defense has improved, they still allow the fifth-most three-point attempts per 100 possessions (39.3) and the 11th-highest percentage made (36%).
Durant was 4-for-10 against New York earlier this year. I'll back him to make 3+ three-pointers again tonight at plus-money.
