NBA Player Props for Friday, March 14
- Ty Jerome
- Evan Mobley
- Dyson Daniels
Donovan Mitchell is out tonight, which opens the door for Jerome to step into a bigger role. He's averaged 17.5 points in the 4 games he's played without Mitchell. Jerome has been held under 20 minutes in his past 2 games, but that should change tonight. In 24 games playing 20-29 minutes, he's averaged 15.2 points.
RotoGrinders projects Jerome for playing time in the mid-20s, which makes sense. There's a route for a role of 30+ minutes, though. Mitchell sat out on March 2nd against Portland, and Jerome played a season-high 36 minutes. The game went into overtime, and Jerome played the entirety of the extra period. If you subtract overtime, he was still over 30 minutes. The key is the lineup configuration. Cleveland chose to go single-big down the stretch, sitting Jarrett Allen for the entire 4th quarter. Allen returned in overtime, but Evan Mobley hit the bench. The duo shared the floor for less than 2 minutes in the 2nd half.
Jaren Jackson Jr. has missed the past five games and is questionable tonight. Santi Aldama has been ruled out. If Jackson cannot return, we'll likely get a smaller lineup from the Grizzlies. Vince Williams and GG Jackson have been drawing starts, with Jackson sidelined, while Luke Kennard has seen an increased role. It's a smaller group for the Grizzlies, which means Cleveland could lean toward the single-big look.
This game has a massive total and should be played at a lightning-fast pace, so we don't need the lineup configuration to break right for Jerome. It will already be a great environment. It's just nice to have another path for elevated production.
Pick: Ty Jerome Over 14.5 Points (-105)
This is the perfect spot to hit the Mobley dimes ladder. Mobley gets a great matchup vs. the Grizzlies, who have played at the fastest pace in the league this season.
