The Timberwolves square off against the Lakers in Game 2 of their first round Western Conference Playoff series on Tuesday night, and we'll be targeting two players to have strong performances in tonight's matchup.
Continue below for my NBA player prop picks for Timberwolves vs Lakers on Tuesday, April 22.
NBA Player Props for Tuesday, April 22
- Mike Conley Under 13.5 Points, Rebounds, & Assists (-105)
- Nickeil Alexander-Walker Over 6.5 Points (-120)
Mike Conley played 22 minutes in Game 1. He might not reach that mark the rest of the series. Conley was routinely targeted on defense and is the only weak link for the Lakers to exploit on that end.
Minnesota has capable guards to turn to off the bench in Donte DiVincenzo and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. With Anthony Edwards handling the ball on the majority of possessions, Conley's playmaking isn't a necessity.
Conley did put up 16 PRA in Game 1, but it was not in a sustainable way. He went 3-for-5 from the field, including 2-for-3 from 3-point range. He converted 9 potential assists and rebound chances into 6 assists and rebounds.
He's unlikely to maintain that conversion rate. Conley had just an 11.8% usage rate, and it's hard to see him improving on that. Conley played less than 20 minutes in 11 games during the regular season. He averaged 7.3 PRA in those games.
Pick: Mike Conley Under 13.5 Points, Rebounds, & Assists (-105)
Interestingly, Nickeil Alexander-Walker went over this number in Game 1 despite a horrible shooting game (2-for-9 overall, 1-for-6 from 3), and the books actually actually bumped the number down a point.
His poor shooting restricted him to just 20 minutes, but we still did see what we expected in Mike Conley getting just 22 minutes in this matchup.
This number is just off, and I'm going to keep riding it until the books adjust.
Pick: Nickeil Alexander-Walker Over 6.5 Points (-120)
