Orlando Magic vs Indiana Pacers NBA Friday Preview

The Pacers have locked the fourth seed, but still can get to the third if the Knicks lose out, so they have something to play for.

The Magic have locked the 7th seed and can’t climb any higher, which is why so many of the Magic players are on the injury report. Don’t expect Orlando’s starters to play.

Which is why I love the Magic in this spot. Sigh.

Indiana is 9-13 (41%) ATS this season against teams under .500 at home, and 5-10-1 ATS when favored by six points or more vs. those teams. Indiana’s just not a good team at getting up for bad matchups.

Here’s the thing though, the Magic sneakily have some depth. Goga Bitazde, Anthony Black, Caleb Houstan, Cole Anthony are all having really good seasons, and they’re not on the injury report. Orlando’s defense is good because it’s coached at a high level systemically.

Indiana has more to play for, but not much more. By the time this game hits halftime, New York may be up double-digits on the Cavs, who will likely rest everyone. If that’s the case, Indiana doesn’t have any motivation to push, either, as New York will clinch the third-seed with a win.

Orlando is the No. 1 team at preventing three-pointers this season, and there’s no one resting who makes a big impact on that. I’ll take Aaron Nesmith under 1.5 made threes and combine it with the Magic +3.5 for a potential payout of +260 on a same game parlay.
