Lakers vs 76ers NBA Preview Tonight

Last night, Anthony Davis had as dominant a first quarter as you will see. The Lakers big man had 21 points and 10 rebounds as he single-handily outscored the Hornets and helped the Lakers build a 20-point lead. Davis finished with 42 points and 23 rebounds on the night, but getting the win was more difficult than expected after that start. The Lakers held on for a 112-107 victory but pushed on the spread or lost outright if you had a -5.5 ticket.

The Lakers would have benefited from a more comfortable victory, as they will be in Philadelphia tonight to take on the 76ers. Typically, when these teams get together, you can expect a matchup of two of the game's best big men, with Joel Embiid facing Davis. Embiid practiced yesterday but remains out for at least the next two games. Philadelphia will also be without Paul George, Andre Drummond, and Caleb Martin tonight.

Without two of the Big Three that Philadelphia has struggled to have on the court at the same time this season, Tyrese Maxey will have a heavy burden once again. Over his last 10 games, Maxey has averaged 30.5 points per game and had a 32.2% usage rate while playing 40.4 minutes per game. He is the NBA's seventh-leading scorer for the season at 26.6 points per game.

However, Kelly Oubre Jr. is one player who may step up for the Sixers. Oubre is averaging 17 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 46.7% from the field this month. However, he is coming off consecutive double-doubles with 22 points and 12 rebounds against the Cavaliers. He followed that up with 22 points and 13 rebounds against the Bulls after George did not return.

Defensively, Philadelphia is 19th in points allowed in the paint. If Davis and LeBron play on the second night of the back-to-back, they should be able to have their way inside. Davis has 29 points and 13 rebounds in four of his last seven games. Meanwhile, James has scored 20 points in eight of his last 10 games and had eight assists in nine of his last 10 games.

A pair of his assists may go to Max Christie, who is shooting 39.7% from behind the arc this month. He should see plenty of minutes as the primary defender for Maxey tonight.

Lakers vs 76ers Prediction

Kelly Oubre has scored 19 points in two of his last three games against the Lakers and five rebounds in all three games, with six in two of them. Recently, he has scored 16 points in five of his last six games and had eight rebounds in four of his last six games. His strong play of late has helped him to record 25 points and rebounds in five of his last six games and I will be backing him tonight. As mentioned, he is coming off consecutive games with a double-double, and he is +370 on FanDuel for another tonight.

In addition to Oubre, I will be backing Maxey, Davis, and Christie in my same-game parlay. Maxey scored 25 points in 10 consecutive games and in his last two games against the Lakers. Davis has recorded 40 points + rebounds in three of his last four games. He has also cleared that line in two of four games on the second night of a back-to-back this season.

Christie has knocked two 3s in eight of his last 10 games. Philadelphia is 22nd in 3-point percentage defense this season, which bodes well for Christie and our chances of cashing this parlay.

Best Bet: Kelly Oubre Over 24.5 Points + Rebounds (-108, FanDuel)

Lakers vs 76ers Parlay Picks

  • Anthony Davis Over 39.5 Points + Rebounds
  • Tyrese Maxey 25 Points
  • Kelly Oubre Over 24.5 Points + Rebounds
  • Max Christie Over 1.5 Made 3s

Parlay Payout: +687 via FanDuel
