Detroit Pistons vs New York Knicks NBA Preview

The Knicks got their butts kicked in both games against the Pistons this year.

Yet, the Knicks are favored to win tonight's game; but we'll get into why in a second.

On January 5, the Pistons smacked the Knicks by a score of 121-90.

Josh Hart and Landry Shamet were out for the Knicks in that game. Meanwhile, the Pistons were down Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris, and Caris LeVert.

On February 6, the Pistons won by a score of 118-80, again without Duren.

However, the Knicks didn't have Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Deuce McBride and Jose Alvarado.

Both of those games were played in Detroit, and this — their last regular-season meeting — is the lone contest in New York these two will take part in this season, unless we see them in the playoffs.

McBride (sports hernia) is out for the Knicks, while Anunoby (toe) has been upgraded to questionable.

Duren (suspension) and Isaiah Stewart (suspension) are ineligible to play due to their part in the Pistons-Hornets brawl prior to the All-Star break.

Pistons vs Knicks Betting Predictions, Analysis

Because Stewart and Duren are out, I'm backing Paul Reed to go over 11.5 points.

Reed is expected to play big minutes tonight as really the only center on the roster who is eligible to play, though he's still undersized for the position.

This year, Reed had 12-6-4 against the Knicks in 27 minutes two weeks ago, and he had 8-8-1 against the Knicks in January.

Both games were without Duren but with Stewart.

Reed has seven starts this season, but only three games without both Duren and Stewart, where he is averaging 19 points per game.

Most recently, he had 22 points against the Raptors without both of them in the last game prior to the All-Star break.

I don't mind the PR or PRA lines, but I feel most comfortable targeting his points line in this spot, especially against the Knicks.

Pistons vs Knicks Best Bet

  • Paul Reed Over 11.5 Points (-120)
