Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns Preview

During their surprise start this season, the Suns have made protecting their home floor a priority, winning 17 of their first 23 home games.

However, they have lost their last three at home, most recently a 109-103 defeat to the 76ers on Saturday.

The Suns have split their last 10 games and have scored 103 points or fewer in all five losses.

Their offense should see a boost with Devin Booker back in the lineup. The four-time All-Star returned on Saturday, finishing with 21 points and nine assists in 32 minutes after missing the previous seven games with a sprained ankle.

Booker is averaging 25.3 points and 6.3 assists per game this season, and the Suns' offensive rating improves by 4.9 points with him on the floor.

The Suns' offense also may benefit tonight simply by facing the Mavericks.

Unlike most teams fading out of the playoff race this time of year, Dallas has been solid defensively for much of the season, ranking 12th in defensive rating.

However, the Mavericks have slipped to 23rd over their last five games.

They have allowed 118 points in four of their last five contests, including 135 and 138 in their last two losses to the Spurs.

Most notably, Stephon Castle recorded a triple-double with 40 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

The Spurs also knocked down 14 3-pointers, and that could be an issue for Dallas again tonight.

Phoenix ranks ninth in made 3-pointers and eighth in 3-point attempts.

Offensively for Dallas, the biggest story has been the continued development of No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg.

Flagg scored 30 points in four straight games and posted a double-double with rebounds in two of them. He also logged 37 minutes in each of those games before playing 26 minutes on Saturday.

The Spurs pulled away from the Mavericks on Saturday, and as a result, head coach Jason Kidd played seven players 23 minutes or more.

With a couple of days of rest, it will be interesting to see how he manages his rotation tonight, particularly Flagg's minutes.

Mavericks vs Suns Picks, Betting Predictions

Dillon Brooks Over 23.5 Points & Rebounds

After Booker went down against the Hawks, Dillon Brooks stepped up to keep the Suns' offense afloat.

However, even with Booker back on Sunday, Brooks still scored 28 points. He has scored at least 22 points in seven of his past eight games, averaging 25.5 points per game over that span.

Dallas has allowed some big scoring nights on the wing lately, with Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, Jaylen Brown and Brice Sensabaugh all scoring at least 23 points in recent games.

Brooks is not a major factor on the glass, but he has added four rebounds in seven of his last 10 games, averaging 4.6 over that span. That has helped him clear 24 PR in seven of his last games.

Brooks' PR line is priced slightly better than his points, and he has been scoring enough to cover both props anyway.

Devin Booker 30+ Points & Assists

Booker is another Sun set to shine tonight, as he has scored 20 points in six of his last seven games against the Mavericks and recorded six assists in five of those contests.

He is averaging 26.4 points and 7.6 assists in his last seven games against Dallas.

He has recorded 30 PA in five of those games and in seven of his last 10 games overall.

Cooper Flagg 25+ Points & Rebounds

Flagg had 16 points and six rebounds in his first game against the Suns, but that was just the 12th game of his career.

He has scored 20 points in six of his last 10 games and grabbed five rebounds in eight of them, averaging 25.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game over that stretch.

Flagg has recorded 25 PR in seven of those games, and he should have a chance to get there again with around 30 minutes tonight.
